Zed vs Yone Counter Pick

With 2,008 recorded games on patch 16.13.1, this is one of the better-supported readings the mid lane produces, and it lands at 56.6% for Zed. Volume matters because the two kits share a structure. Both repeat a portion of damage dealt during a window, Soul Unbound for Yone and Death Mark for Zed, and matchups decided by timing tend to produce noisy numbers at low sample counts. This one is not noisy.

Yone’s 175 attack range against 125 gives him the opening exchange, and Way of the Hunter adds magic damage on every second attack, bypassing armour entirely. Spirit Cleave shields him based on how many champions the swipe hits, so a Yone inside a crowded fight is far harder to burst than one caught alone. What tilts the numbers is the resource: Flow builds through combat, while Energy is available immediately, letting Zed contest levels one through three without waiting for anything to accumulate.

Defensive columns are close enough that execution decides fights: 654 health against 620 at level 1, 2,337 against 2,405 at level 18, 111.9 armour against 111.2, both moving at 345. Zed‘s 29 magic resist is the outlier and the reason Way of the Hunter stings. Soul Unbound leaves Yone’s body behind while his spirit acts, and punishing that body is the clearest window available.
