Anubis, Braloha, Orserk, and others—we are exploring the best breeding combinations in Palworld 1.0. Which Pals to hatch first, where to find them, and how to speed up the process—all in this guide.
Breeding in Palworld is a leisurely process, but it is essential if you want to get strong Pals without spending miles searching across the map. The mechanics are simple: a male + a female in the Rendezvous Pasture + a cake in a chest = an egg that hatches a specific species. The exact combination that produces the desired Pal depends on hidden statistics, which we will discuss later. For now, here is a list of goals worth pursuing with a farm.
Table of Contents
How to Get Anubis in Palworld and Why You Need Him?
Combinations: Jormuntide + Selena, Flarakel + Dupin, Ruzhai + Blazamut. In practice, a bunch of combinations work: Penking + Bushi, Nightwing + Rayhound, Mossanda + Cutress, Broncherry + Mammorest. Personally, I found the Nightwing and Rayhound combination to be the most effective—catch the former in the starting area, the latter in the desert to the northeast; he is around level 30.
Why do you need him? Handicraft level 4 and Mining level 3 are a serious base boost in the early stages. While you are running around the world, Anubis handles crafting and ore. And he is a solid fighter in combat—his companion skill, “Guardian of the Desert,” changes your attack type to Earth, plus he can dodge some attacks. It is no wonder he is in the S tier of almost all ratings.

If you do not want to bother with breeding, the alpha boss, Anubis, is level 47 and awaits you in the central desert at the foot of his statue, right where the coal is mined. But the boss is the final difficulty level, so it is best not to approach it without a strong team.
Braloha and Best Combinations for Farm Efficiency
Combinations: Cryolynx + Grizzbolt, Lullu + Bastigor, Relaxaurus Lux + Lupmun Cryst.
Braloha is on this list not because of the battles or even the base, but because of her companion skill, “Fertile Climate.” It reduces the time it takes for Pals in the Tryst Pasture to produce eggs. If you are planning on breeding rare Pals through long chains, this bonus is invaluable.
Plus, she has skills for planting and gathering—feeding a hungry horde in a base geared for breeding will be easier.
Best Pals to Breed: Lunaris Faleris Orserk and Shadowbeak
Lunaris. Combinations: Gumoss + Reptyro, Pengullet + Ragnahawk, Foxparks + Grizzbolt. She has level 3 Handicraft, but most importantly, her passive increases maximum load capacity when in a party. With her, you will not have to run to base for every other resource pack.
Faleris. Only Faleris + Faleris. A fiery flying mount with level 3 Kindling and level 3 Transport. The “Flame Eater” skill makes ice Pals drop more loot while you are on it.
Orserk. Combos: Grizzbolt + Relaxaurus, Astegon + Cryolynx. Electricity level 4 is one of the best stats in the game. Plus Transport 3 and Handicraft 2. The companion skill “Fierce Thunder Dragon” increases drops from water Pals. Also level S—and for good reason.
Shadowbeak. Only Shadowbeak + Shadowbeak. A Dark-type mount with passive buffs to Speed, Attack, Defense, and Stamina. The “Altered Genes” skill increases Dark-type damage while mounted.
Jormuntide. Combinations: Bellanuar + Celesdir, Moldron + Blazamut, Relaxaurus Lux + Blazamut. This Pal is the local Ditto: it can be used in a huge number of combinations, and having at least one makes breeding other Pals easier. It is also needed to obtain Jormuntide Ignis (we will get to it later). It is a fast mount, can swim, and is a Dark- and Water-type fighter.
Palworld Breeding Calculator and Hidden Mechanics
So, you have got a list. What if the Pal you need is not on the list? Or do you want to check what other combinations produce, say, Anubis?
It all comes down to a hidden mechanic. Each Pal has a number in the game files—its breeding power. When two Pals mate, the game averages their breeding power using the formula: offspring = floor((parent1 + parent2 + 1) / 2)
The lower the number, the rarer the offspring. Two strong parents usually produce a strong child. But there are also hard-coded exceptions—special combinations that override the formula. This is how subspecies like Relaxaurus Lux or Grizzbolt are created.
Calculating all this manually is masochism. Use calculators.

The best tools for 2026
Host Havoc Breeding Calculator — data directly from game files, current as of June 11, 2026, 227 Pals, all subspecies and special combinations. You can select two parents and see the offspring, or work backwards: select a target Pal and see all pairs that produce it.
Pal Calc — a mod that analyzes your save file and builds an optimal breeding tree for any Pal and any passive skills, with a time estimate for each step.
Infinity Calculator — a simple online tool: select two parents and immediately see the child.
How to use. If you know what you want to breed, go to the calculator, select “reverse” mode, enter the Pal’s name, and get a list of all possible parents. Then it is a simple matter: find a male and female of the desired species, transfer them to the cake farm, and wait.
How to Transfer Passive Skills via Breeding?
Breeding in Palworld is not just about “who will produce an egg with whom.” There is also genetics involved. Each Pal can have up to four passive skills, and they inherit them from their parents. However, they are not directly or guaranteed—it is a lottery with controlled odds.
How passive skill transfer works. There is a chance that a child will inherit a specific skill from a parent, but it is not 100%. Inheritance is a random process and can take time. However, there are mechanics you can use:
-
Catch Pals with the desired passive skills in the wild.
-
Breed them until you get a child with the desired set (or at least two of the four).
-
Take this child and breed it with the next Pal that has the desired passive.
-
Repeat until you have collected all four on a single Pal.
Chain Method. Experienced players can collect the four target passives in 8-15 tries. Key tip: do not try to optimize both passives and IV (potential) at the same time. Achieve the ideal passive set first, then work on IV—otherwise, the number of attempts will skyrocket.
Active skills. This one is a bit simpler: each hatched Pal has a 50% chance of inheriting one active skill from either parent. All skills the parent knows, not just the equipped ones, are included in the inheritance pool. If you want a specific skill, keep the parents at low levels so their skill pool is small and predictable.
Bonuses: If the parents have the Nocturnal passive, they reproduce faster at night. Philanthropist reduces the time between attempts. And, of course, Braloha at base speeds up the entire process—you already know that.
Important: Alpha status is not inherited. The chance of getting an Alpha from an egg is fixed at 5%, regardless of the parents.
Jormuntide Ignis Where to Find and How to Breed
Jormuntide Ignis is a fire-colored subspecies of the common Jormuntide. And it is worth it.
How to Obtain
Wildlife. Lives in Wildlife Sanctuary 2. Available both day and night. Be careful with guards—if spotted, you will receive the “Criminal Activity Underway” status. Weaken it to 10% health and throw Ultra or Hyper Orbs. A male and female are required for breeding.
Breeding. The only known combination at the moment is Jormuntide Ignis + Jormuntide Ignis = Jormuntide Ignis. Yes, you need two Ignis to get another. Other combinations have not been officially confirmed, although players continue to experiment.
Comparison with a regular Jormuntide
Why is it needed? Firstly, it is a powerful fire fighter and mount with a unique skill – riding on water without losing stamina. Secondly, Jormuntide Ignis is great for breeding Anubis – it is easier than chasing the boss into the desert. Thirdly, it is simply rare and cool – it is in the top 10 Pals for both base and combat, according to IGN.
Practical conclusion: If you are just starting out, your number one goal is Anubis, using Penking and Bushi or Nightwing and Rayhound. At the same time, get Braloha – it will speed up all your other attempts. Then, down the list: Lunaris for carrying capacity, Orserk for electricity, Shadowbeak for speed. Jormuntide and Jormuntide Ignis are already advanced, but many top Pals are impossible to breed without them.
And do not forget about calculators: manually calculating breeding power is for madmen. Host Havoc, Pal Calc, and Infinity Calculator are your best friends in the world of breeding. Happy breeding.
