The Templar armor in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is perhaps Edward Kenway’s most coveted reward. Locked in a cage inside an estate on Great Inagua, it can only be unlocked after collecting five keys: one is obtained through the story, the other four through the “Templar Hunt” side investigation. Opia Apito is the fourth and final target in this chain. Complete all of her quests to obtain the coveted artifact and finally don the legendary armor.

Below is a complete walkthrough with priorities, bug fixes, and alternative tactics not found in standard guides. Save your game before each stage—this will save you hours of replaying in the event of a crash.

Preparing for the Hunt: Gear, Ship, and Leveling

Before heading to Cayman Sound, make sure your Jackdaw is properly equipped. The island where Opia is hiding is surrounded by enemy ships. Here’s a minimum set of upgrades, without which the sea phase will be a nightmare:

Upgrade Recommended Level Purpose
Cannons At least Rank 2 Bring Vargas’ ship into boarding range without sinking it.
Hull Armor At least Rank 2 Withstand incoming fire during the chase.
Speed Any available upgrades Catch up with Vargas before he disappears beyond the horizon.

Among consumables, be sure to take Sleep Darts – they simplify the fight with the White Jaguar to a single shot. Healing kits are also a good idea: there will be a large enemy force in the final clearing of the ruins.

As for leveling, the minimum recommended level for this investigation is 15-20. If you’re lower, does your stealth skill outweigh your combat power? Then rely on stealth: dense bushes and, in conjunction with Opia, the silent elimination of sentries is your trump card.

Opia Apito Walkthrough

Meeting Opia Apito

Meeting Opia and the Camp

Opia Apito awaits you in the Castillo de Jagua region of Cayman Sound. The pier is guarded by hostile ships—you can sink them or jump off the ship 200-300 meters from the shore and swim. The second option saves time and gunpowder.

Greet Opia—she’s not too happy to have guests—and follow her to the nearest camp. There, you’ll need to find clues:

  • a tree directly in front of you;
  • a pool of blood on the ground.

After examining the area, talk to Opia again. Then follow her to the dead guards. Here, the path forks—take the right side, following the tracks of the White Jaguar.

Hunting the White Jaguar

The White Jaguar is faster and more agile than regular soldiers. Engaging him in direct combat is dangerous, but here’s a lifehack:

One well-aimed shot with a tranquilizer dart and the predator falls. Then approach and finish him off with a hidden blade.

White jaguar hunt

If you don’t have any darts, use heavy attacks and dodge. For defeat, you’ll receive a Map Fragment. Opia will move east of Castillo de Jagua, toward Grand Cayman Island. Speak with her on the dock.

Surveillance of the Fisher King

Opia will ask you to investigate the presence of Templars on the island. Follow the marker to the right and sit on the bench – you’ll overhear a conversation between two locals. From their conversation, you’ll learn about the Fisher King.

Head west to the viewpoint (activate it if you haven’t already). In the “Exploration” zone, use Eagle Vision—green markers will indicate your target. Once you spot the Fisher King, follow him carefully. As you follow, you’ll discover he has the Bill of Sale.

Pickpocket him when he’s not looking. If he catches you, prepare for a short fight. Once you have the Bill of Sale, this part is complete. Opia will move east of Grand Cayman, near the viewpoint. Head there and speak with her.

The Vargas Pursuit and the Naval Battle – HOW NOT TO BREAK THE QUEST

Opia will tell you about the Templar’s right-hand man, Vargas, and lead you to his house. Hide in the haystack opposite the entrance. When Opia tries to talk to him, Vargas will run out and board a boat.

Board the Jackdaw and give chase. Your goal is to attack Vargas’s ship with cannons, then board it.

⚠️ CRITICAL WARNING: Don’t overdo it with fire, or you’ll sink the ship. And don’t kill the entire crew before the winning dialogue! If you kill all the sailors before boarding, the quest is broken—the marker will reappear, and you won’t be able to control the ship.

Correct procedure:

Vargas ship boarding

  1. Fire at Vargas’s ship until the boarding invitation appears.
  2. Immediately proceed to boarding.
  3. Run to Vargas, ignoring the remaining sailors.
  4. Stun or kill Vargas, and the mission will be complete.

If the quest fails, reload your last save and repeat the boarding process using our algorithm.

After eliminating Vargas, meet Opia on the Isle of Pines (north of Grand Cayman). The pier is again guarded by enemy ships—either prepare for battle or disembark early and sail to the island.

Night Expedition to the Isle of Pines

After meeting Opia on the beach, sit next to her and rest until nightfall. Follow Opia under cover of darkness. Try to remain unnoticed: there are many soldiers along the way. Opia will prompt you when you can eliminate enemies together.

In the ruins, you must eliminate all of Lucia’s men:

  • quietly—through stealth assassinations;
  • You can be loud—it doesn’t affect the mission’s success.

After clearing the area, use Eagle Vision—green markers will point to Lucia Marquez. Approach her—she’ll run away. Chase her briefly, then engage her and two guards.

Finale and Key Acquisition

Once Lucia is defeated, interact with her body to confirm the kill.

A cutscene will play, and you’ll receive the fifth and final Templar Key. Talk to Opia to complete the quest.

All that’s left is to return to the estate on Inagua (Gibara region). Insert all five keys into the locked gate, and the Templar Armor awaits you inside.

Congratulations on completing all the Templar hunts in Black Flag Resynced!

Top 5 tips for an easy playthrough

  1. Save before each stage—bugs happen, and reloading is your salvation.
  2. Use Eagle Vision constantly—it displays green target markers and makes finding them easier.
  3. When boarding, immediately run to Vargas—don’t get distracted by the sailors, otherwise you risk breaking the quest.
  4. In naval battles, don’t overdo it with cannons—sink the ship you need and you’ll have to reload.
  5. During the final clearing, assist Opia, but don’t get caught in the thick of the enemy fire—she’s a good diverter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I skip some stages?

No. All stages are required—otherwise, you won’t get the key.

What should I do if the quest breaks after boarding?

Reload your last save and repeat the boarding process using our algorithm (don’t kill the crew, go straight to Vargas).

Do they give anything else besides armor?

Keys and map fragments are secondary rewards. The main reward is armor. As a bonus, you’ll receive a special talisman in the form of the order’s cross.

After receiving the armor, wear it with pride—it’s a tribute to the game’s most challenging side quests. If you haven’t yet completed the other hunts, lead the investigations of Rhona Dinsmore, Vance Travers, and Anto—each of them will yield a key and unlock new layers of the story.
