Farming unique weapons from bosses is a chore for those with nerves of steel. Especially when it comes to the Scepter of the Three, a two-handed mace for Warlocks in Diablo 4. Fortunately, there’s a trick that turns a tedious drop into a predictable crafting experience. And it works not only with this scepter, but with any unique item for all classes.

How to craft the Scepter of the Three using the Horadric Cube

The idea is very simple: take a regular two-handed mace, go to the Horadric Cube, select “Upgrade to Unique,” and you’ll get the Scepter of the Three. Guaranteed.

Guaranteed drop rate for a unique mace

Scepter crafting in cube

Why? Because Warlocks currently only have one unique two-handed mace. No roulette—the developers created this method with those tired of endless runs in mind.

Farming Andariel and finding keys in the Hall of the Hanged Man

Andariel boss farming route

If you’re doing it the old-fashioned way—where does the scepter drop? The traditional way is to lead a clearing of Andariel in the Hanged Man’s Hall in Kehjistan. But there’s a catch: her chest requires a Greater Orphanage Key. And these keys don’t drop often—mostly from the chests of minor bosses like Urivar, Zir, and Gregoire. How long will it take to get one Greater Orphanage Key? Roughly, it depends on luck. It could take a couple of fights, or it could take several evenings.

Where to find the required crafting material and spend Obols efficiently?

Where can I get a regular mace for crafting? Even at high Torment levels, regular items continue to drop. The most reliable source is War Plans and other endgame activities. Sooner or later, you’ll find a two-handed mace. Want to speed things up? Investigate at the Purveyor of Curiosity and spend some Obols—you might just get lucky with a regular mace.

And finally, the Lord of Hatred expansion has made uniques much more accessible. The Horadric Cube is now your best friend. No more hours-long raids on Andariel, no more begging for drops. Craft the weapon you want.

Scepter of the Three Stats and Bonuses Overview

What does the Scepter of the Three do? The weapon provides three effects at once, and each one breaks the usual boundaries in its own way. First, it grants +15 ranks to all ultimate abilities. Second, it allows you to equip more than one ultimate ability on your skill bar at a time. Third, damage boosting: when you hit an enemy with a non-ult, you gain a temporary damage bonus to your ultimate abilities. This lasts until the timer for your last used ultimate expires.

Maximum Damage and 30 Ultimate Skill Ranks

Ultimate skill damage boost

This sounds more complicated than it is. Let’s explain: the 15 ranks from the Scepter stack with those already learned. For example, Apocalypse is maxed out at 15/15? The Scepter of the Three will turn it into 30/15. Yes, that’s an unprecedented overkill.

Features and the Buff Infinite Timer

But there’s a catch. You can activate all available ultimates on the panel, but you can’t invest additional points in ones you haven’t yet used. Fully upgrade only one—the others will remain at their base level. And the damage bonus, by the way, lasts as long as at least one ultimate is active. The good news is that if you use the timers correctly, the effect can be maintained indefinitely. The downside is that you need to keep a close eye on the clock.
