Deltarune Chapter 5 is a collector’s paradise. The timeline is impressive, and items are scattered everywhere: some are hidden in the most unexpected corners of the Dark World, while others are tied to specific rooms. But among this abundance, there are five special ones—the hidden foxes—and without them, the secret boss is completely unseen.

Aqua’s Quest and Secret Boss Unlock Requirements

At some point during the game, Aqua will block your path. This flower-like Dark One guards the passage and, as usual, won’t let you pass without a reason. She’ll ask you to find three foxes in the nearby area. But the catch is, there are only five of them—and finding them all will grant you access to the chapter’s secret battle. So, let’s get to work.
First Fox in the Tapestry Hallway

Let’s start with the first one—she’s waiting in the Tapestry Hallway (Tapestry Hallway). We head to the right of Aqua. We immediately notice a chain of projectiles in the shape of paw prints, rhythmically moving up and down behind the tapestries. We skip the first four without any problem—they’re easy to dodge. But then the fun begins: a long line that at first glance seems impassable. But the developers left a loophole for a reason. One of the projectiles in this chain is fake. Take a closer look: the fourth one from the left doesn’t move at all like the others. This is our target. You can stand inside it without taking any damage. Simply interact with it, and the first fox is yours.
Chase in the Terracotta Armory and Tricky Armor

Now we head back left. To the right of the stairs leading up, there’s a sliding door—this is the entrance to the Terracotta Armory. Inside, right in the center of the room, a second fox jumps out in full view. But don’t rush to grab it—it’s more cunning than it seems. As soon as you approach, she begins darting between gaps in the crowd of seemingly sleeping terracotta warriors. And then you discover that real guardians are hiding among the fakes. Hit one, and all the others wake up. But the good news: defeating any active guardian defeats all the others at once. So, spray them with water (or whatever) and continue the chase. The fox will dart around, but sooner or later, she’ll tire and allow herself to be caught. That’s the second one.
The third fox is the most cunning. She disguises herself as an empty suit of terracotta armor. Head to the lower right corner of the room. There, in the very bottom row, is the third suit of armor from the left—push it, and it will fall. The same fox will jump out, hop into your pocket, and add to your collection.
Solving the Jumping Stone Puzzle

Once you have the first three in your pocket, head to the upper right corner of the terracotta room. There you’ll find an open door leading to a hall with a button and tapestries. Behind them, it seems, a whole pack of jumping foxes is hiding—except only one is real. When you step on the button and lift the curtain, this becomes obvious.
You could go through each stone one by one, looking for the one. But why complicate things? Take one of the stones and place it directly on the button—it will stay pressed. Now approach the fox calmly, without any unnecessary dancing. The fourth is ready.
Yellow’s Secret Room and the Last Fox

Return to the terracotta room and go to the upper left corner. Hidden among the motionless armor is a secret door in the back wall. Beyond it is a small room where Yellow stands behind a screen, changing his boots. Interact with the screen, and Yellow will be replaced by the fifth and final fox. The guy himself will be shocked by your intrusion, but that’s a minor detail.
Reward for collecting foxes and finding pink coins
Now that your collection is complete, return to the locked door to the left of the hallway. Inside, another fox awaits you—it’s jumping with joy, greeting a guest. Interact with it, and it will transform into a chest. Inside is one of 19 Pink Coins scattered throughout Chapter 5. To defeat the secret boss, you need to collect 10 of them. So, each fox you catch isn’t just a checkmark on a list—it’s a serious step toward the chapter’s most delicious battle. Don’t miss it.
