GTA 6 Online Launch Date: Will Online Come Earlier Than Expected? - Image 1

Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to hit consoles and PC on the promised date of November 19, 2026. However, the online component is much more uncertain. It’s logical to assume that the successor to GTA Online will arrive alongside Grand Theft Auto 6, but Rockstar is keeping a tight lid on the matter.

The latest leak, however, suggests that the online mode won’t be long in coming. There’s no official confirmation, of course, but that doesn’t seem to be stopping fans.

GTA Online will launch within a month of GTA 6, claims an insider.

X (former Twitter user) TheGhostOfHope shared the following today: “The current plan is for GTA 6’s online mode to launch within a month of the game’s release.” According to him, the next iteration of Grand Theft Auto Online could theoretically launch in time for Christmas—that is, before December 25. True, the insider didn’t provide any hard evidence. He simply “heard it from one person” and added, “Whether you believe it or not is up to you.”

By the way, TheGhostOfHope is primarily known for Call of Duty leaks, where his predictions often came true. But GTA 6 isn’t quite his area of expertise. So, this particular report should be taken with a healthy dose of skepticism.

There was a precedent: GTA Online launched two weeks after GTA 5

There’s some basis for this. GTA 5 launched on September 17, 2013, while GTA Online launched on October 1. That’s exactly two weeks apart. If Rockstar decides to repeat the same strategy, users will be able to transfer their adventures from the single-player campaign online almost immediately.

But frankly, the community isn’t quite optimistic about such a quick launch. Too many factors are at play: delays for GTA 6 itself, the wild success of the current GTA Online (which is still generating billions), plus the scale of the new game—all of this suggests that the online mode could be months, not weeks, away.

What’s next? Rumors will multiply, or Rockstar will retreat into the shadows again.

If TheGhostOfHope’s words are even slightly true, we’ll see several more similar insider tips or indirect confirmations in the near future. But Rockstar, being Rockstar, keeps everything under wraps until the very last minute. So an official answer about GTA Online’s fate will likely be a long time coming.

It’s worth adding: a repeat of the 2013 model would be a fantastic Christmas present for fans. On the other hand, modern GTA Online is a vast, living world with a complex economy, rates, and content. Polishing such a mode after the story’s release is a perfectly reasonable idea, even if it takes a little longer. For now, all we can do is wait for news from Rockstar. And they, as usual, are in no hurry.
