EA Sports is using the final days before NHL 27’s worldwide launch for the first CHEL Week. The Comeback Season program runs through September 11. It includes a free starter pack for eligible Early Access players, daily Hockey Ultimate Team collections, objectives, Moments and a community vote. Spotlight Moments and sets open on September 10, while the vote winner receives an overall-rating increase on September 11. World of Chel also adds an Autumn Cup and a playable Mario Lemieux alumni loadout.

The starter pack is a beginning, not a complete team
The free pack gives Early Access players a first group of event items. Open it before buying around assumed positions, then identify which roles remain weak. A low-rated card can still be useful for an objective or collection. Selling or exchanging every duplicate immediately may close a cheaper route later in the week. Players should read whether an item is tradeable and whether a set consumes it permanently. A simple roster plan avoids spending currency twice on the same problem.
Daily collections build toward short decisions
Forward and defensive collections arrive on separate days, followed by Spotlight content. This schedule means the best choice can change as more items become available. Do not complete a costly set only because it is the newest menu tile. Compare the boost, the cards required and how long the item will remain in the active lineup. A modest upgrade that improves several positions can be more useful than one expensive star surrounded by obvious weaknesses.
| Date | Main CHEL Week addition |
|---|---|
| September 7 | Starter pack, objectives and vote |
| September 9 | Defensive collection |
| September 10 | Spotlight Moments and sets |
| September 11 | Vote winner reward and worldwide launch |
Spotlight Moments have clear task limits
The September 10 Spotlight content includes timed challenges such as taking a set number of powerful shots with a full stick swing or scoring points with a named player. Read the objective before entering and build the lineup around the exact requirement. A task that requires the full swing does not count a faster shot made mainly with the wrists, even if the puck enters the goal. When time is limited, create the correct shooting lane first and avoid low-percentage attempts from poor angles. Finishing the condition cleanly is more important than the match looking realistic.

The community vote changes one event item
Players can vote for a preferred CHEL Week participant. The winner receives a one-point overall increase and becomes a featured event player. A vote can follow fandom, team need or expected market value, but those are different reasons. The boost is useful, not transformative. It should not justify replacing an entire lineup before the result is known. Check the official closing time and confirm the selection was recorded. Social polls can show enthusiasm, but only the in-game vote determines the reward.
Mario Lemieux enters World of Chel
CHEL Week introduces an alumni legend directly into World of Chel through a themed loadout. The design uses a 1992-style presentation and high-level abilities. Playing a strong preset can help users understand positioning and timing, but it does not automatically improve a custom build. Notice which attributes make the loadout feel stable and which choices fit only the event. When returning to a created player, copy the principle that worked rather than expecting identical ratings or animations.
The Autumn Cup gives clubs a shared target
World of Chel’s live event offers seasonal rewards and a reason for a group to play together during Early Access. Clubs should set a realistic session and confirm every member has access before arranging a full evening. One player may be using the EA Play trial while another owns the Deluxe Edition. That difference affects available time. Clear roles for faceoffs, entering the attacking zone and defending matter more than matching cosmetic items. A short review between games can fix repeated open lanes without slowing the event.
More players will arrive at the worldwide launch
NHL 27 launches globally on September 11 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles. Matchmaking, markets and popular strategies may shift when standard-edition players arrive. Early results from a smaller group should not be treated as a permanent competitive ranking. New users can begin with the On-Ice Trainer and offline modes before joining online play. Veterans should expect uneven experience levels and keep team communication useful. More players create better variety when the first week remains welcoming.
Spend the opening week on information as well as rewards
Limited-time programs create urgency, but the first days also reveal how progression, prices and balance work. Keep some currency, test several modes and avoid committing every resource before most players join at launch. Record which objectives fit normal play and which require a dedicated lineup. CHEL Week succeeds when it gives players a structured start. It becomes frustrating only when every task is treated as mandatory and the schedule replaces the reason someone wanted to play hockey.
