Toys for Bob studio has officially announced Spyro: A Realm Beyond, a brand-new title in the iconic franchise, set for release in spring 2027. The developers behind the excellent Spyro Reignited Trilogy have set out on their own after splitting from Activision to bring to life ideas conceived decades ago.

What to expect from the new Spyro: A Realm Beyond?
The main feature of the upcoming release is a complete overhaul of the flight mechanics. Previously, Spyro could only glide from platform to platform, but in Spyro: A Realm Beyond, his wings will finally work at full power. The developers promise accurate physics: to gain altitude, you’ll have to actively flap your wings, and speed will depend directly on your dive and air currents—just like in advanced flight simulators. For acceleration, the dragon will even be able to use the jet propulsion of his own fiery breath. It seems that navigating through locations will become a full-fledged gameplay challenge, not just a shortcut. Incidentally, the developers sketched out the first concepts for this system while polishing previous remakes.
Spyro: A Realm Beyond Plot, Open World, and Release Date
However, Toys for Bob isn’t rushing to share all the details just yet. At a recent Q&A with the press, the developers deftly avoided specifics. Because of this, it’s still unclear whether we’ll get a full-fledged open world or the game will retain its familiar corridor-based structure with divided levels. The creators also left questions about the plot connections to the original trilogy and the presence of other playable characters unanswered.
