Atlus continues to introduce fans to the characters of the upcoming remake, revealing a trailer featuring Rise Kujikawa at Anime Expo 2026. They also confirmed details of the combat system, pricing, and Game Pass availability. Read the full breakdown below.

Atlus has released a new character trailer for Persona 4 Revival, featuring Rise Kujikawa, the navigator of the Investigation Team and a rising pop star known as Risette. The reveal took place during Atlus’s panel at Anime Expo 2026, where the developers also revealed several important details about the remake.

In the new English version, Rise is voiced by Abby Trott. The Japanese voice actor, as in the original, is Rie Kugimiya. This isn’t the only staffing change—all in-game anime cutscenes were created by MAPPA, known for Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man. This is the studio’s first project in the Persona series, where they are responsible for all animation sequences.

Is the remake worth the extra money? Comparing Persona 4 Golden and Persona 4 Revival

The main question that arises in any fan of the original Persona 4 Golden is: is it worth buying the remake if I already own the original? The answer is yes, and here’s why.

Persona 4 Revival is more than just a remake with improved graphics. This is a full-fledged remake using a modern engine: the visuals, user interface, combat system, and social links have been reworked. All dialogue has been re-recorded, including all side scenes and events not present in the original. The music has also been completely re-arranged: vocal tracks and battle themes have been re-arranged with full choirs, and completely new compositions have been added.

Key Differences Between Persona 4 Revival and Persona 4 Golden

Aspect Persona 4 Golden Persona 4 Revival
Graphics and UI Original PS Vita / PS2 style Fully reworked for modern standards
Voice Acting Partial, not all scenes Full, all dialogue re-recorded
Anime Cutscenes Original Fully recreated by MAPPA
Combat System Classic turn-based system Baton Pass, Prime Time, and Send Flying added
Music Original soundtrack Fully rearranged + new tracks
Price ~$20, digital version $64.99 Standard / $74.99 Deluxe

The price difference is significant – about $45. But for that price, you get “the same game in 4K,” but also a truly new experience: a modern battle system, full voiceover, new animations by MAPPA, and redesigned social interaction mechanics. For those who played the original 10+ years ago, this is a great reason to return to Inaba. For newcomers, it’s the perfect entry point.

What’s changed in the combat system? Breaking down the new mechanics from the trailer

Persona 4 Revival’s combat system is a noticeable change compared to the original. The developers haven’t simply refreshed the graphics, but have reimagined the tactical depth of battles.

  • Baton Pass is a mechanic familiar to fans of Persona 5 Royal and Persona 3 Reload. After knocking down an enemy, you can pass the baton to an ally to continue the combo. This opens up new tactical possibilities: instead of wasting a turn healing or buffing, you can pass the baton to a character with the right element and deliver a devastating blow.
  • Send Flying is a new mechanic that allows you to inflict status effects on multiple targets at once. If an enemy is poisoned or burned, you can throw it at another enemy, and the status will transfer to them. In previous games in the series, status effects were often ignored; now they become part of the strategy.
  • Prime Time is a gauge that fills as damage is dealt. When the gauge is full, a mode is activated in which all abilities consume 0 SP, and attacks ignore enemy resistances. The whole thing culminates in a powerful move, Prime Time Finish—essentially an All-Out Attack from Persona 5, but with its own visual style.
  • Guard Action—you can now not only block damage but also counterattack, stunning the enemy. This makes exploring the TV world more strategic: you can avoid unwanted encounters or, conversely, start the fight with an advantage.

All these changes, according to producer Kazuhisa Wada, are aimed at creating a “light and stress-free” gaming experience. Classic mechanics—1 More, All-Out Attack, and the Persona system—remain intact. But now they work in tandem with new tools, dramatically changing the gameplay experience.

Conclusion

Persona 4 Revival releases on February 18, 2027, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Pre-orders are now open for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC; for PlayStation 5 and Steam, they launch on June 8. The game will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.

What’s next? If you’re a fan, pre-order the Digital Deluxe Edition to receive Persona sets from Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Royal. If in doubt, wait for the Persona 4 Revival TV broadcast in June, where the developers promise to show even more gameplay. Either way, this is a remake worth returning to Inaba for.
