Long Jaunt Studios has released a major update for the medieval strategy game Norland. The patch not only polishes the core mechanics following the release of the roadmap for the second half of 2026, but also lays a strong foundation for global expansions. This time, the main focus is on intrigue, usurpation, and a completely redesigned visitor system.

How Visitors Are Breaking the Political Meta in Norland

Visits from foreigners are no longer boring background noise. Visiting lords have now become a working tool for influencing your dynasty. They can charm local rulers, deliberately spread dirty rumors, or openly provoke duels. And their brazenness is not without reason. Each visitor is now accompanied by a retinue of bodyguards, whose equipment and combat skills directly depend on the level of development of their home state.

Throne Usurpation and a Nerf to Intrusive Lords

Politics itself has also received a significant overhaul. Usurpation mechanics have been added to the game, and the logic of influence plots has been significantly complicated. At the same time, the developers have clearly listened to community complaints and have cut down on spam with political grievances from subjects (an excellent decision, by the way). Now, lords will only assert their rights if your relations have hit rock bottom and fallen below friendly.

Other additions to the latest build:

  • Fistfights with tangible social consequences for participants.
  • A Potion of Madness for those who enjoy the most sordid intrigues.
  • Expanded command pool for working with allies and puppets.
  • A drastic rebalancing of elite loyalty and influence.
  • Over a dozen new perks for character generation.

Custom worlds and smooth generation

The local map generator has also been optimized. At the start of the campaign, players can now fine-tune world settings, right down to manually placing hills in a location. The map generation algorithm itself has become faster and generates fewer errors. Additionally, the interface has been updated with fresh icons and dashboards for convenient settlement management. And, as always, the developers have fixed dozens of bugs related to poor AI scripting, combat, and weather conditions.

It appears the current patch is just a warm-up. According to studio head Dmitry Glaznev, the most exciting new features are currently in development and will hit the servers in the coming weeks. It promises to be a hot summer for fans.
