Rumors about Half-Life 3 have been circulating for ages, and now it seems there’s new hope! Tyler McVicker, a well-known figure in gaming circles and reportedly connected to Valve, has stated that the game’s announcement could happen as early as November.

According to his sources, development on Half-Life 3 appears to be nearly complete. The core gameplay is already complete, and Valve is currently working on making sure everything runs smoothly and looks great. In addition to this news, they’re also preparing a first trailer to show the game off to the world.

McVicker notes that if Valve follows the same approach as with Half-Life: Alyx, the game’s initial reveal could be just a short time before its release. So, if the announcement does indeed take place in November, we could be playing Half-Life 3 as early as next year. Of course, these are just rumors, and we should treat them with caution, but we really hope they’re true! All Half-Life fans have been eagerly awaiting this game for a long time.

Let’s remember how it was with Half-Life: Alyx. The game was announced in November 2019 and released in March 2020. If Valve sticks to this schedule, there’s a good chance we’ll see Half-Life 3 quite soon. Of course, anything can happen. Game development is an unpredictable process.

Half-Life 3: New Source 2 Data and What Was Found in the CS2 Files?

In short, an important situation has arisen. McVicker has recently been analyzing the Source 2 engine updates released in the October patch for Counter-Strike 2. And what did he find? It turns out the guys at Valve have done a great job: the system now automatically monitors your computer’s resources to ensure they’re not overloaded. They’ve also improved the game’s audio and the behavior of various liquids. But the coolest thing is the new particle system, which works differently. These particles now react to wind and generally behave differently depending on their surroundings.

What’s most interesting: some things labeled “science” were found in the engine files. And fans immediately thought of Half-Life 2.

But McVicker is quick to point out that these are just rumors. Yes, it seems like something like that is being done, but Valve is Valve. They can change their minds at any moment. So it’s entirely possible that the game won’t be released anytime soon, at least a long time from now.

Another artist, Evgeny Evstratiy, who works with Valve on Deadlock, added fuel to the fire. He casually said, “I don’t know if I can say this, but I saw how they made Half-Life 3. And it’s not their first attempt. If the game isn’t as cool as they want, they’ll just cancel it.”

There’s talk now that the game’s first trailer might be shown alongside the re-release of Raising the Bar. While people were hoping for an announcement at The Game Awards 2025, McVicker thinks Valve will simply release the trailer online without any fanfare. That’s their favorite way to do things.

By the way, don’t forget that in 2020, Valve released the awesome Half-Life: Alyx for VR.
