The game’s full release is scheduled for September 25, 2026. Ultimate Edition owners will traditionally receive early access—field trials for them begin on September 18.

The Grounds — The Main New Feature of EA Sports FC 27
The developers are adding a fully-fledged open world with a social hub inspired by the concept of NBA 2K City to the football sim. The mode is called The Grounds. Players will be able to create their own avatar and explore three major football metropolises: London, Paris, and Buenos Aires. These locations feature custom equipment shops, streetball challenge zones, areas for spontaneous 3v3 matches, and story-driven hubs.
Progression is closely tied to mentors. The mentor system will be led by Kylian Mbappé, Chloe Kelly, Paulo Dybala, and Alex Hunter. The mode is fully integrated with Pro Clubs, features microtransactions for cosmetics, and requires a constant online connection.
Why The Grounds Won’t Be Available on PS4 and Xbox One
The new hub will be exclusive to current-generation platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The mode will be completely blocked on previous-generation consoles.
The decision to abandon PS4 and Xbox One releases is due to the architectural limitations of the older consoles. Seamless loading of large urban environments in The Grounds requires high-speed NVMe drives and the performance of the latest generation of processors. EA Sports engineers decided against compromising or cutting back on physics.
New Floor Header Skill Move in EA Sports FC 27
A new, provocative skill move, the Floor Header (a header from the ground), has been added to the gameplay.
The move was first teased in demo videos on the developers’ official X-account featuring Portuguese winger Francisco Conceição of Juventus. The mechanic allows a forward to head the ball from the ground while diving, deceiving a defender or goalkeeper.
The feint will be available in all major modes, including Ultimate Team and online seasons. The developers are keeping the exact button combination for the move a secret until the patch notes are released.
EA Sports FC 27 Prices and Editions
According to the Steam and PlayStation Store pre-order pages, the game will be released in two standard editions.
