Bandai Namco has announced the “Mask of Idris” story expansion for CODE VEIN II—and it’s not just another DLC. The expansion transports players to the “Forsaken World,” a dimension shaped by the emotions of destroyed timelines, where a central emotional vortex threatens to spill over into reality. The release is scheduled for summer 2026, tentatively between July and September.

The expansion is already included in the Digital Deluxe and Ultimate Editions—owners of these versions will receive it free. For everyone else, it’s a separate purchase. And most importantly, the free version 2.0 update will be released alongside the DLC.

Two New Characters and a Separate Story Arc

The story centers on two main characters. Liv Voda (voiced by Yuki Aoi) is Valentin Voda’s half-sister and the former guardian of the Temporal Rift. She abandoned her duties long ago due to boredom, but now returns with a feisty, fiery spirit—when her emotions run high, her hair and eyes begin to glow brightly.

The second character is Lou MagMell (voiced by Manaka Iwami). She is a vampire girl whom players will meet in the Abandoned World. Unlike Liv, she does not become an ally; instead, Lou begs the protagonist to leave this dimension, attempting to stop its expansion alone. Her true motives and connection to the world remain a mystery—this is the very intrigue the DLC promises to reveal.

Access Requirements: What You Need to Do Before Starting

To access “Mask of Idris,” you must fulfill two conditions:

  • Achieve the second ending, “Moon of Fraternia” (in the Japanese version, “Yuwa no Tsuki” / “Moon of Fusion”).
  • Squeeze through the “Valentine’s Request” quest to reach the “Discussion with Valentine: MagMell Island Tome” stage.

Please note: different sources provide minor discrepancies in the names of the requirements—for example, some sources list “Request From a Friend: Valentin,” while others list “Request from a Friend: Valentine.” But the essence is the same: you need to complete the second ending and complete Valentine’s quest chain to a specific point. This is standard practice for post-story DLC in the Souls-like genre.

Free Update 2.0: What’s Coming to the Game

Parallel to the release of the DLC, Bandai Namco will release a free patch, version 2.0. And these aren’t just “bug fixes.” The update will add the ability to explore the post-story world with companions. According to the publisher, the update will address several community requests—the exact ones haven’t been specified yet, but the fact that the developers are listening to players is encouraging.

Code Vein II update

It’s worth noting that information about version 2.0 has appeared before—in patches 1.0.3, 1.0.7, and others. But this is the first confirmation of a major free update tied to the DLC. Coincidence? More likely, a deliberate move: the DLC attracts paid users, while the free update retains the entire audience.

When can we expect it and how much will it cost?

The exact release date has not yet been announced. The summer window is broad, from July to September. The PlayStation Store page lists a deadline of “January 2027,” but this is a standard pre-order guarantee, not an actual date. Official announcements from Bandai Namco and Japanese publishers are unanimous: summer 2026.

The price of the DLC has not been disclosed. For owners of the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions, it’s free. For everyone else, we expect pricing in upcoming announcements. Considering the amount of content (a new location, two characters, a separate story arc), we can estimate a price tag of around 1,500–2,000 rubles, but that’s not official.

What’s next? Bandai Namco promises more details as the release approaches. Stay tuned for updates and get your saves ready.
