PUBG developers have officially confirmed that the project will no longer be supported on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 13, 2025. This means that owners of previous-generation consoles will no longer be able to launch the game or connect to servers. The decision is due to the technical limitations of the old hardware and the team’s desire to focus on modern features. From that date, PUBG will become exclusive to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S — new platforms capable of providing higher-quality graphics, stable FPS, and support for the latest gaming technologies. The developers promise that the transition will pave the way for large-scale visual upgrades and new modes that are simply not possible on the previous generation. If you want to save your gaming progress, it is recommended that you consider upgrading to current consoles now so that you can continue fighting on your favorite PUBG maps without interruption.

All PUBG purchases and skins will be retained when switching to new consoles

PUBG has officially confirmed that all game progress and player purchases will be securely saved and transferred to new platforms. This means that your rare skins, weapons, in-game currency and achievements — everything you’ve earned in battles for hours — will remain with you. This approach not only protects gamers’ investments, but also builds trust in the brand, because for millions of fans, this is not just a game, but part of their digital history.

The decision to transfer resources to developing and optimizing PUBG for next-gen consoles was strategic. Now the main focus will be on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S to ensure maximum performance and compliance with modern industry standards.

The development team intends to deeply rework the key elements of PUBG:

  • improve physics and game mechanics,
  • pump up the visuals to the level of photorealism,
  • introduce new features that reveal the potential of the powerful hardware of next-gen consoles.

For owners of older systems, a smooth transition is planned: you can play on current consoles until November 13, after which support will end. This is an important step that will allow PUBG to reach a new technological level, making each match even more dynamic, realistic and exciting.

PUBG on PS4 and Xbox One

The long-awaited release of PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds) on PlayStation 4 took place on December 7, 2018, and since then the shooter has firmly established itself in the hearts of gamers. The daily audience of the project on PC and consoles fluctuates between 400,000 and 600,000 active players, which confirms its continued popularity. The transition to free-to-play in 2022 was a key turning point: the game not only received a fresh influx of users, but also significantly increased the developers’ income, becoming available to an even wider audience around the world.

Amid the success of PUBG, the gaming community is actively discussing the big news: HoYoverse announced the gradual end of support for Genshin Impact on PlayStation 4. This move has caused heated debate, because now other online game developers, inspired by the example of HoYoverse, are also considering similar changes.

Meanwhile, the creators of PUBG are not resting on their laurels. As part of their strategy to expand their gaming portfolio, they launched an open beta test of a new survival project, Prologue: Go Wayback, which has already attracted the attention of fans of the genre thanks to its atmosphere and innovative mechanics.
