The Epic Games Store has launched a giveaway for the psychological horror game Cat Named Mojave—you can claim the game until August 15th at 6:00 AM Moscow time. It usually costs 299 rubles, but now the developers at Stargazers Studios LLC have decided to give everyone the game completely free. This isn’t a weekly store promotion, but a personal initiative of the studio. Incidentally, the game has 95% positive reviews on Steam—a solid figure for an indie horror game that was released just last December.

The story unfolds on a deserted road: your battery runs out, leaving you without communication in the middle of nowhere. Then an anthropomorphic cat named Mojave (aka Catman) appears—and that’s when the horror really begins. You’ll need to not just survive, but hunt other monsters, skin them, and butcher them, fulfilling the increasingly terrifying demands of the main antagonist. The mechanics, frankly, aren’t for the faint of heart, but they’re precisely what gives the game its nerve-racking thrill.

Quick summary: Cat Named Mojave, a psychological horror game from Stargazers Studios, is available for free on EGS until August 15th (6:00 AM Moscow time) on PC and PS5 (the last version was released in May 2026). The game remains in your library forever, but the giveaway is not valid in Germany and South Korea. The regular price is 299 rubles.

The developers clearly designed the project with classic surreal thrillers in mind, but they added enough innovations to prevent it from becoming a mere imitation. For example, the Epic Games Store version has 16 achievements and supports 26 languages (Russian text is present, but there’s no voiceover—which, by the way, doesn’t detract from the immersion). The game is only 2 GB in size, so even with a slow internet connection, you can download it in a couple of minutes.

Earning the game is effortless: head to the Epic Games Store, find the Cat Named Mojave page, click “Get”—and it’ll be permanently added to your library. Just keep in mind: due to regional restrictions, the game may not be available in Germany and South Korea, so if you’re there, you’ll have to find a workaround. But for most regions, it’s no problem.

How long does the giveaway last? The deadline is strict: August 15, 2026, at exactly 6:00 AM Moscow time. Unlike many sources that simply say “until the 15th,” we specify a specific time—this is important to ensure you don’t miss the last hour.

By the way, this isn’t the only freebie this week. Beacon Pines, We Were Here Together, and Project First Contact are already available on the Epic Games Store, and the giveaway for the meditative Caravan SandWitch begins on August 13. Plus, Ubisoft Connect is giving away Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier until August 13th—so it’s been a generous week.

If you’re unsure whether your PC can handle this game, here are the minimum requirements: Windows 10, Core i5-7500, 8 GB RAM, GTX 1050 Ti, DirectX 12, and 2 GB of storage. Recommended: Windows 11, Core i5-10400, 8 GB RAM, GTX 1660—also simple. Overall, this is a solid hardware package.

Don’t miss out: 95% off on Steam and free—that’s a combination you don’t find every day. Get it before it’s gone.
