Gothic will return to consoles: THQ Nordic confirms release dates for the iconic games
The first part of the trilogy has been available on modern platforms since July 28, and now the publisher is bringing the work to a logical conclusion. At the THQ Nordic Showcase 2026 presentation, held in early August, the release dates for the remaining two games were officially announced.
When to expect it and what to play it on?
Gothic II Complete Classic will hit digital stores on September 29. The game will be released on four platforms simultaneously: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The edition includes the original RPG and the “Night of the Raven” expansion—no cut-down versions, just the full package.
As for Gothic III Classic, its release is scheduled for November 24th. Its platform list is shorter: only PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. It’s on these consoles that the game has received its most significant rework.
Behind the Scenes of the Console Ports
In Gothic III Classic, the developers have integrated the famous Community Patch 1.75—the same fan-made patch that saved the game from endless bugs and performance issues on PC. The console version also features a new interface, completely redesigned controls for gamepads, and improved optimization. According to the publisher, the game will run at a stable 60 frames per second in 4K on PS5 and Xbox Series X—a significant improvement over the 2006 original.
Incidentally, a short gameplay trailer for Gothic 3 Classic was shown during the presentation. It showcases fluid combat and redesigned locations, though the graphics remain clearly faithful to the old-school spirit.
Price and bonuses for fans
Each installment will cost €29.99 or $29.99—roughly the same price as the first game at launch. For €90, you can collect the entire trilogy, which seems very attractive by today’s standards. But there’s an additional incentive: if you pre-order Gothic 1 Remake (expected in 2027), you’ll receive the first installment of the original trilogy for free immediately after purchase.
Community Reaction and What’s Next
Fans have already begun discussing on social media whether they’ll be able to install mods on the console versions. The developers are keeping mum for now, but official support for user-generated content is possible in the future. For now, the main news is that the entire classic Gothic trilogy will be available on all current platforms by the end of November 2026. Longtime fans will finally be able to replay their favorite adventures on the couch, while newcomers will be able to experience the iconic series without unnecessary technical difficulties.
And another important detail: contrary to some rumors, Gothic II Complete Classic is coming not only to the current generation, but also to PS4 and Xbox One—so owners of previous consoles are also in the game.
