Blizzard has officially confirmed that Season 15 of Diablo 4 will introduce the long-awaited Rebirth feature, allowing you to transfer a leveled character from the Eternal Realm directly into seasonal content. Players have been asking for this feature since release. This mechanic preserves the character’s name, class, appearance, accumulated cosmetics, and total playtime, but resets the character’s level to 1 and completely clears the inventory. You will be able to try this new feature on the PTR from August 4 to 11, 2026, with the full launch scheduled for September, immediately following BlizzCon.

Diablo 4 Rebirth Feature Overview and Mechanics
The purpose of Rebirth is simple: eliminate the need to create yet another identical character from scratch every time a new season begins. Instead of creating duplicates in the character selection menu, you transfer an already familiar Necromancer or Barbarian to the seasonal mode.
When Rebirth is activated, the following occurs:
-
The character is reset to level 1
-
Your name, class, cosmetic customization, playtime, and all available cosmetics (including pets, portals, tombstones, and transmogrifications) are preserved
-
All inventory items and equipment equipped on your character are lost (the system will display a special toggle and warning before confirming)
Essentially, the system is identical to the mechanics in Diablo 3, simplifying life for those who are attached to a specific alt and do not want to create duplicates.
How to Rebirth a Character in Diablo 4 Instructions
The rebirth process takes about half a minute, but requires careful consideration of your equipment.
-
Go to the character selection menu in Diablo 4
-
Select the character from the Eternal Realm you want to transfer to the season
-
Click the Rebirth button (the corresponding option will appear in the interface)
-
Read the warning about resetting your progress and completely losing your equipment
-
Confirm the action
-
Select a seasonal mode and start the run from level 1
Diablo 4 Rebirth Preparation Checklist
The main risk during Rebirth is accidentally giving valuable gear to the system. To avoid losing your top-tier build, complete this checklist before pressing the main button:
-
Empty your inventory and body: Remove all items from your character, including jewelry, gems, and Aspect gear
-
Move items to a chest: Store all important equipment in the Eternal Realm’s shared chest, otherwise it will disappear
-
Check your mercenaries and pets: Make sure there are no rare consumables left in their pockets
-
Take a screenshot of your build: If you have a custom glider, save your skill tree and Paragon settings so you can easily restore them at level 60
Diablo 4 Season 15 New Features and Content
The season is not limited to just Rebirth. Blizzard has prepared a significant amount of content, including the return of iconic items from previous games in the franchise, the unique Soul Splinters mechanic, and high-level challenges.

List of Legacy Uniques in Diablo 4
The developers are bringing back 10 unique items from previous games in the series. The table lists their official names and class restrictions:
Note: Some publications mistakenly mention 9 items, but official data confirms 10 rotational uniques.
Soul Splinter Item Effects List
Shards provide a massive stat boost, but in exchange, impose severe negative effects:
-
Splinter of Anguish: +15–35% Crit Strike Chance and Attack Speed, but +30% resource cost
-
Splinter of Sin: +10–40% Maximum Health, but -30% Maximum Primary Resource
-
Splinter of Lies: +40–100% Gold Drop Rate and +25% Bonus Experience, but the character is constantly Weakened and Vulnerable
-
Splinter of the Black Soulstone: +7–50 All Stats and +2–5% damage per soul, but +0.5% damage taken per soul
-
Splinter of Pain: +10–40% Damage Reduction, but -30% Movement Speed
Additionally, the game will feature Challenge Dungeons—bosses with dynamically scaling difficulty, random ambushes in the open world of Overland Ambush, reworked Mythic items, and a new Horadric Post mechanic. The developers admitted in a blog post that they are intentionally holding back some details until BlizzCon to avoid releasing all the content prematurely.
