On July 24, 2026, IO Interactive released patch 1.1.0 for the spy action game 007 First Light. Weighing in at 23.84 GB on PS5, the update fixes over 200 bugs, adds two TacSim missions, three weapons, a new suit, and—most importantly for PC players—completely removes Denuvo protection.

Major Changes and Patch Notes for Update 1.1.0

The update is the first major patch following a series of operational hotfixes released immediately after the game release in May 2026. The developers focused on two areas: technical stability and new content. “From fixes for crashes and animation issues to the infamous achievement bugs, this update demonstrates our team commitment to improving 007 First Light,” the studio stated in its official announcement.

Fixing Crashes Bugs and Input Lag

Patch 1.1.0 addressed a number of technical issues that had plagued players since its release. Particular attention was paid to Xbox Series S consoles, where numerous crashes were reported: when resuming the game from the Challenges menu, during the “Time to Die” boss fight, during the vehicle cutscene in the “All the Time in the World” mission, and even after killing an enemy with the Red Room shotgun in TacSim.

On PlayStation 5, a bug was fixed where ADS would stop working after invoking the PlayStation System Menu. On Xbox Series S/X, a full console reboot is no longer required after disconnecting and reconnecting the wireless controller. Access to content after the “Against All Odds” mission, which was previously blocked in offline mode, has been restored on the Epic Games Store.

In addition, gadget input lag has been reduced, preventing unintentional resource drain. Fixed an issue where Bond would play the climbing animation in place without actually climbing over the edge.

Achievement and Challenge Fixes

A separate set of fixes is dedicated to achievements that many players had not unlocked since release:

  • “Spy Legacy” – now unlocks after collecting all legacy items
  • “For Your Eyes Only” – no longer unlocks after collecting all Intel items
  • “Casino Royale” (EGS) – now unlocks after collecting all cards
  • “Keep Moving Forward” – unlocks after reaching Security Clearance Level 3

Two problematic challenges have also been fixed: “Lightweight” (required ejecting more than three enemies from a plane) and “Nothing to Report” from the mission “Guest Intruder.”

Patch 1.1.0 Size on PS5 PC and Xbox

The patch size varies greatly depending on the platform. As usual, the PlayStation 5 received the heaviest update—a whopping 23.84 GB. On Xbox Series X, the update weighs 1.39 GB, on Steam—3.6 GB, on the Epic Games Store—3.99 GB, and on Microsoft PC—2.24 GB. The reason for this gap on the PS5 is the console architectural design, which requires a complete rewrite of a significant amount of files even with relatively minor code changes.

New Weapons and Suit Unlock Conditions

In addition to technical fixes, the developers have added new content to the game—and it is available now. “We did not want to release an update without new content,” explained IO Interactive.

007 First Light New Weapons

All new TacSim rewards – clearance levels and costs

Reward Type Access Level Cost (Intel)
Stormberg 50’cal Heavy Pistol 10 3000
DRX-2 Machine Pistol Machine Pistol 12 3000
DRX-7 Silenced SMG Silenced SMG 16 3000
Diamond in the Rough Outfit (Shorts + Hawaiian Shirt) 18 3000

All new items are unlocked with in-game Intel, which can be earned by completing TacSim missions and challenges.

TacSim Missions The Workshop and Extraction Avenues

The update adds two three-level escalations to the TacSim mode – an MI6 training ground in Q lab.

The Workshop – a stealth mission. Bond infiltrates Q workshop: dim lights, silence, and seven enemies standing between the agent and a clear exit. Firearms are prohibited—only fists, gadgets, and tactical thinking. You need to remain undetected and deliver decisive blows.

Extraction Avenues is a mirror image of the first mission. The data is secure, but the escape route is never easy. You must study the security map, find the ideal route, and escape before reinforcements close off all escape routes. Weapons are now available—and the faster you break through, the higher your chances of success.

“Extraction Avenues” activate License to Kill mode and add additional challenges like stronger enemies and limited resources.

Complete Removal of Denuvo Protection from PC Version

Perhaps the most unexpected change in patch 1.1.0 is the complete removal of Denuvo protection from the PC version of the game.

According to the game SteamDB page, the 007 First Light executable has shrunk by 263 MB—that is how much the protection weighed. The game itself no longer mentions Denuvo in its Steam description.

Why did IO Interactive take this step just two months after release? The reason is simple: the game had already been cracked. First, voices38 released a hack, then came a hypervisor hack from the DenuvOwO group. The continued presence of the protection became pointless.

For players, this means several positive things. First, those who were putting off purchasing the game because of Denuvo can now confidently purchase the game. Second, removing the DRM should improve performance—micro-lags and occasional freezes, which some users had complained about, will disappear. Thirdly, the game is now officially DRM-free.

As a reminder, the decision to add Denuvo to 007 First Light was made just six days before release, causing a wave of discontent among those who had already pre-ordered. Now the studio has effectively acknowledged the error and fixed it.
