The combat system in Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced has been rebuilt from the ground up, and the old weapon selection rules no longer apply. The best sword is now determined not only by damage, but by a combination of stats, and the ideal combination for most players is Persian Scimitars paired with Golden Flintlock Pistols. This is current as of July 25, 2026, after the release of patch 1.04 on July 16.

New Combat System in AC Black Flag Resynced

Instead of the traditional “click-based” approach to attacking enemies, the developers have implemented a mechanic where each enemy now has a defense meter. Light attacks deplete this meter, opening the door for finishing moves. A perfect parry triggers a chain of finishing moves—and this is where the weapon’s most important stat comes into play: maximum number of finishing moves.

This new feature completely restructures the weapon selection logic. A sword with 38 damage but only two finishing moves can lose in a mass fight to a blade with 25 damage that can eliminate four enemies at once.

Weapon classes have also been clearly divided:

AC Black Flag weapons

  • Sabers – wide, arcing strikes, ideal for crowd control.
  • Rapiers – a piercing thrust, the best choice for one-on-one duels.
  • Pistol swords – fire two shots instead of a heavy strike.

Pistols have their own system: range and draw speed are important. The greater the range, the sooner you can take out an enemy before they get too close. Patch 1.04, by the way, improved a wide range of combat mechanics – fixes affected stability, quests, and the overall fluidity of battles.

Top 3 Best Swords in Black Flag Resynced

Persian Scimitars Best Sword in Game

Without a doubt, the best sword in the game. 38 damage and four finishing moves are the maximum stats. But the main perk is this: Brutes cannot interrupt your chain of finishing moves.

These massive enemies usually easily end your chain with a headbutt. Scimitars eliminate this problem entirely, making them ideal for boarding and fort assaults where enemies outnumber you and there is little room to maneuver.

How to obtain: Restore the Treasure Merchant on Great Inagua (you will need to build a Shop and Tavern). Collect six fragments of the “Worn Map” from the smugglers’ lairs, exchange them for the map with the merchant, and travel to the Mysterious Island at coordinates 914,124. The chest contains scimitars and the “Gargoyle’s Breath” pistol.

Order of the Gold Sword with Built in Pistol

A unique blade with a flintlock pistol attached to the side. 38 damage, three finishing moves. Holding the right bumper fires up to two free bullets, stunning all enemies within range.

Where to get: Fully upgrade the Shop on Great Inagua to level 3 and purchase for 29,000 reals.

Ezio Swords Protection from Unblockable Attacks

Unlocked in the Animus Exchange for 1,500 keys. The damage is only 25, but the perk is invaluable: perfect parrying of unblockable attacks. Enemy moves that glow red usually require dodging; with Ezio’s swords, you parry them and instantly counterattack.

Legendary Sword Stats

Name Type Damage Max finishers Perk How to obtain Price

Toledo Blades Sabers 25 3 Powerful strikes restore health Shop lvl 3, Gran Inagua 24,000 reals
Ezio’s Swords Sabers 25 2 Parry unblockable attacks Animus exchange 1,500 keys

Top 3 Best Pistols in the Game

Golden Flintlock Pistols The Best Choice

The best pistol in the game. Their range of 28 is the longest of any firearm. Draw speed is 1.20. Killing with these pistols slows down time for a split second.

Golden Flintlock Pistols

The effect is clearly evident in boarding battles: you take out one enemy, time slows down, and you can calmly aim for the next shot. This allows you to seize the initiative and thin out the enemy ranks before they even have time to react.

Where to get: Shop on Great Inagua, level 3, price: 18,000 reals.

Dark Animus Corsair Flintlocks

Range: 22, draw speed: 1.00. Perk: Each bullet ricochets to a second target. Hit the first one in the head, and the second one will also take a bullet to the head. Instant double kill with one bullet.

How to obtain: The “Eye of the Animus in the Darkness” reward path.

Baldwin Pistols Best Starting Weapon

Until you have access to level 3 of the Shop, this is your option. Their range is 26—almost the same as legendary pistols. Draw speed is 1.00.

How to obtain: Lucy Baldwin’s quest line, the third quest, “Plantain!”.

Stats of the Best Pistols

Name Rarity Range Draw speed Perk How to obtain
Golden Flintlock Pistols Legendary 28 1.20 Slow time on kill Shop lvl 3 — 18,000 reals
Dark Animus Corsair Flintlocks Legendary 22 1.00 Ricochet to second target Reward track “Eye of Animus in the Dark”
Baldwin’s Pistols Rare 26 1.00 Quest “Plantain!” (Lucy Baldwin)
Gargoyle’s Breath Legendary 20 1.50 Explosive bullets (100 reals/shot) Worn map (together with scimitars)

Top 3 Best Builds for Different Styles

Area Damage Build for Boarding

Persian Scimitars + Golden Flintlocks.

This combo covers everything: in close combat, scimitars mow down crowds without the risk of being interrupted by thugs, and at range, golden pistols with their slow-motion effect turn you into a head-on shot machine.

Talismans: Templar Cross (reduces melee damage) + Rabbit’s Foot (chance to stun when parried).

Control and Maximum Damage Build

Order of Gold + Le Bourgeois’s Blades.

Both are pistol-swords. The Order grants free shots, and Le Bourgeois’ Blades fire three times per Heavy Attack. You literally keep enemies out of melee range, dispatching them in close combat without having to reload.

Talismans: Templar Cross + Yash-Tun Pendant (complete invulnerability to projectiles).

Build for Stealth and Perfect Accuracy

Ezio’s Swords + Dark Animus Corsair Flintlocks.

Ezio’s Swords allow you to parry any attack, including unblockable ones, which is a lifesaver in situations where stealth is compromised. Corsair Flintlocks with ricochet provide two kills per shot—perfect for quick clear-outs.

Talismans: Seal of the Hidden (slows enemy detection) + Rabbit’s Foot.

How to Quickly Get Best Weapons at Start

At the start of the game, you will not have the resources or progress to access the top weapons. But that is no reason to suffer. First: focus on key upgrades—pistol holsters, health upgrades, and ammo. Reload speed is reduced in Resynced, so more pistols equals more shots in a short time.

Second: While you do not have golden pistols, get the Baldwin pistols from Lucy’s questline. Their range of 26 is almost top-notch.

Third: In large-scale battles, the rope dart + sweep combo will help you gain experience. The dart has become even more effective in Resynced—you can silently drag patrols into the grass. Finishing moves are easy to unlock, which compensates for the low damage of the starting weapon.

Fourth: Farm reals through hunting and boarding. 29,000 for the Order of Gold and 18,000 for golden pistols are substantial sums, but achievable.

Frequently Asked Questions about Weapons in Resynced

Which weapon is best for completing the story?

Persian Scimitars + Golden Flintlocks. This combination covers all scenarios, from massive boarding actions to targeted assassinations.

Is the Order of Gold worth spending real money on?

If you appreciate the compactness of a sword pistol and free shots in close combat, it is definitely worth it. But if your budget is limited, save up for golden pistols—they are more versatile.

How do I get Persian Scimitars?

Restore the Treasure Merchant on Great Inagua, collect 6 “Worn Map” fragments from smugglers’ lairs, exchange them for the map, and find the chest on the Mysterious Island at coordinates 914,124.

Do perks work in patch 1.04?

Yes. Patch 1.04 from July 16th improved the combat system, but did not disable or change the perks of legendary weapons.
