Aventurine Waveflair is a new 5-star Quantum character from the Path of Joy, appearing in the second phase of the 4.5 banners, tentatively from September 16th to October 6th, 2026. Unlike the original Aventurine (Path of Conservation/Imaginary Element), Waveflair takes on an offensive role as a primary damage dealer, and her mechanics revolve around resource accumulation with Fervor and Punchline.

⚠️ Important: All information regarding skills, materials, and Eidolons is based on beta leaks from honeyhunterworld and is subject to change after the official release.

Aventurine Waveflair in Honkai Star Rail Release Date and Review

Waveflair is the summer SP version of Aventurine, one of the Ten Stone Hearts. Unlike its original counterpart, which aspires to be a defender and tank, the new form surpasses its predecessor in aggressiveness and explores a completely different gameplay niche. The developers at HoYoverse officially confirmed this during drip marketing on June 30, 2026.

Key differences between the SP version of Aventurine and the original

The transition from the Path of Preservation to the Path of Joy is more than just a class change. It is a fundamental shift in the character’s role in the squad. While Aventurine previously equipped with shields and led the team’s defense, he now confidently takes the position of primary damage dealer, whose damage relies on critical damage and speed. For those who yearn for an aggressive Aventurine experience, this new feature is a real treat.

Banner Schedule and Patch 4.5 Release Date

Patch 4.5 Honkai: Star Rail will arrive on August 25–26, 2026, depending on the server. The banners are listed in the following order:

  • Phase 1 (August 25 – September 16): Robin Summeretto
  • Phase 2 (September 16 – October 6): Aventurine Waveflair

The banner lasts for the standard three weeks. Keep this in mind when planning your Star Jades. You do not necessarily have to spin it right away—it will return in the next rerun—but if you want to succeed in the meta DPS run, it is best to prepare in advance.

Aventurine Waveflair Skill and Mechanics Guide

The Waveflair set involves managing two key resources: Punchline and Fervor. The former is accumulated through skills and the ultimate, while the latter is accumulated through allied attacks. When Fervor reaches 10, the character automatically activates the Joy skill. The entire set of abilities is equipped with mechanics that encourage a fast-paced battle.

Main Abilities Basic Attack Skill and Ultimate

Ability Type Damage Effect
Base Attack (Flow, Precise Hit) Single Target 100–140% ATK
Skill (Deadly Shot, Boiling Sands) AoE 240–300% ATK +2 Punchline, +4 Zeal
Ultimate Ability (Winning Hand, Above the Storm) AoE 400–480% ATK +5 Punchline, +8 Zeal, +25–32.5% Speed for 3 turns

Why the percentage discrepancy? Different sources show discrepancies—this is evidence that the beta version is undergoing several iterations. Eurogamer lists 300% for the skill, Beebom lists 240%. The official release will adjust these values, so do not be too precise.

How the Zeal talent and resource accumulation work

The talent (Place your bets, listen to the depths) is the core of the entire set:

  • Increases the duration of “Certified Banger” by 1 turn
  • After each ally’s attack, grants +1 Zeal and +1 Punchline
  • Maximum Zeal: 30

When Zeal reaches 10, Waveflair automatically uses the Joy skill “Cheers! For the Blazing Summer.” If “Certain Hit” is active, the skill deals an additional 40-50% of Joy’s Quantum damage to all enemies, and the ultimate ability deals 72-90%.

Joy Path damage and Aha Moment buff

Joy skills are Waveflair’s main source of damage. There are two of them:

  • “Cheers! For the Blazing Summer!” “For the Blazing Summer” (AOE): 75% of Joy’s Quantum damage to all enemies + 10 hits to 18.75% random targets
  • “All-In! Until the Blazing Summer” (AOE): Same base, but consumes all Zeal—each point spent grants an additional hit of 18.75%

“Aha Instant” is a unique tick interval during which Joy’s skill is upgraded to “All-In!” By arranging your rotation accordingly, you can increase your damage to an abyss.

Resources and Materials for Waveflair Ascension

Waveflair ascension materials list

Fully upgrading Waveflair requires a wide range of materials. The total is:

Level Materials Credits Reward
20 x5 Thought Pieces 4,000 1 Regular Pass
30 x10 Thought Pieces 8,000
40 x6 Impression Fragments + x3 Mocking Harlequin 16,000 1 Regular Pass
50 x9 Impression Fragments + x7 Mocking Harlequin 40,000
60 x6 Wish Shards + x20 Mocking Harlequin 80,000 1 Regular Pass

Total:

  • x15 Thought Pieces
  • x15 Impression Fragments
  • x15 Wish Shards
  • x65 Mocking Harlequin
  • 308,000 Credits

“The Mocking Harlequin” is a new boss material that will likely be added in version 4.5. A meticulous player will want to start farming it early. And that is not the only preparation required—the tracks will require even more resources.

That is a serious amount of farming. You can simplify the process by delving into the weekly bosses and events of version 4.5—they are timed to coincide with the release of SP characters and will reward players with bonus materials.

Waveflair Eidolon Overview and Best Duplicates

Eidolon Effect
E1 (Vacation at Stake) +24% resistance penetration; at 10 Fervor, activates the Joy skill
E2 (Tidal Fluctuations of Leisure) Maximum Fervor → 50; +2 Fervor after using the Joy skill/ultimate/skill
E3 (Chilled Midday Meeting) +2 skill and talent levels; +1 level to the Joy skill
E4 (No Dealing with the Sun) Damage ignores 18% of the target’s defense
E5 (Jump into the Jackpot Squall) +2 levels to the ultimate ability and Joy skill; +1 base attack level
E6 (Cashing in the Past for a Wild Ride) +25% Joy damage; after two ultimates, all Joy skills become “All-In!” and do not consume Zeal

E1 and E2 significantly change the pace of the game—they make Zeal building easier and increase the frequency of Joy skills. E6 turns Waveflair into a killing machine—but upgrading to this level will require significant investment.

Best Squads and Team Synergies for Waveflair

The Path of Joy implies synergy with other characters on the same path. The more Elathions in the squad, the more Fervor is accumulated through the talent.

Squad Building with Path of Joy Characters

Bonus Trace 2 (Fury of the Raging Tides) provides +100% Joy damage if there are other Path of Joy characters in the squad. Best Teammates:

  • Yao Guang – an ideal partner, enhancing the Elathion synergy
  • Ashveil – another Path of Joy damage dealer, who, together with Waveflair, covers all your AoE damage needs
  • Robin Summeretto – although she is in the first phase of the banner, her buffs exceed expectations and synergize perfectly with Waveflair

Tip: If you already have a squad of two or three Path of Joy characters, Waveflair will confidently take over as your main damage dealer.

Universal and Quantum Teams for Waveflair

If you are not chasing maximum synergy, Waveflair works great in classic Quantum squads. His talent triggers after any ally’s attack, regardless of their path. The key is to keep him constantly generating Zeal. Characters with frequent bonus attacks or a high tempo of action are ideal for this.

Build Guide Best Cones Relics and Stats

Waveflair is a fast-paced Quantum damage dealer whose damage is tied to critical strikes and speed. By choosing his gear accordingly, you can maximize his potential.

Top Light Cones for Waveflair

Priority Light Cone Effect
1 Signature (name unknown yet) Maximum Joy damage + Fervor bonuses
2 Where Dreams May Come (5★) Universal Crit Cone for the Path of Joy
3 Fun Isn’t Forever (4★) A good alternative for F2P
4 Cosmic Picnic (4★) A budget option with a speed bonus

Relic and Planar Jewelry Choices

Slot Recommendation
Relics (4 items) Magical Girl – Increases Joy damage and speed
Planar Jewelry (2 items) Punklorde’s Riot – Bonus to critical damage and attack

Artifact Stat and Attributes Priority

  • Body: Critical Damage / Critical Chance
  • Legs: Speed
  • Planar Orb: Quantum Damage
  • Connection: Attack or Energy Regeneration

Careful stat selection is the key to success. Do not discount Speed: Bonus Trace 1 grants up to 30% of Joy’s damage at 160+ Speed, plus an additional 1% for each point beyond that. These are not just signs of life—they are a real multiplier that turns Waveflair into a monster.

Is Waveflair worth picking and where does it fit in the meta

A question that is on everyone’s mind. Here is the honest answer.

Who should play it:

  • You have Yao Guang or Ashveil – the synergy will be maximum
  • You are building a Quantum Squad and need a strong AoE damage dealer
  • You enjoy aggressive, resource-dependent gameplay with constant Zeal control
  • You are willing to invest in E1 or E2 – they are a real game-changer

Who should skip it:

  • You already have Seele or Qingque – the new Quantum damage dealer might be overkill
  • You do not want to bother with the Zeal mechanic and prefer straightforward characters
  • You are F2P and saving up for more versatile characters (like Robin Summeretto in the first phase)

Verdict: Waveflair is a powerful, but niche character. Without the support of other Elathions, he will not be able to reach his full potential. But if you are willing to build a team around him, he will reward you with massive damage and engaging gameplay. The decision is yours – but now you have all the data to make the right choice.
