Cygnus Cross Studios has announced the release date for its debut project. Emberville will enter Early Access on PC on October 27th, and will be available for purchase on Steam and GOG. The developers are banking on feedback: they intend to work with the community to bring the project to full release.
Emberville is positioned as a Diablo-meets-Stardew Valley experience. The story unfolds in Vitromotus, an endless magical prison where the protagonist awakens with no memories. The journey isn’t alone: along the way, you’ll need to rescue prisoners—former residents of the once-thriving Emberville. Each rescued character unlocks new crafts, quests, and mechanics, while the town itself is gradually restored.
The combat system is built around positioning, timing, and weapon combinations. The developers promise dynamic battles with monsters and bosses. The class tree allows you to combine skills from different specializations, and the class itself can be changed at any time. Outside of combat, there’s an economic focus: resource extraction, crafting, construction, estate development, and even farming. Progress depends not only on victories but also on restoring peace and building relationships with the locals.

Who is CohhCarnage and why is he creating Emberville?
The project is being developed by Cygnus Cross, a studio co-founded and co-owned by renowned streamer and YouTuber Ben Cassel, better known as CohhCarnage. He serves as co-creative director and, in his own words, “wears many hats” during development. Development of the game has been ongoing since 2023. The voice cast includes a stellar cast: Doug Cockle (Geralt from The Witcher), Alex Jordan (Cyberpunk 2077), and Jane Perry (Returnal, Baldur’s Gate 3). The game’s first trailer has garnered over half a million views and nearly 300,000 wishlists on Steam.
“Diablo meets Stardew Valley” — why Emberville is being compared to hits
The comparison to Diablo and Stardew Valley isn’t a marketing ploy, but an accurate description of this genre hybrid. Diablo brings a dark aesthetic, dynamic dungeons, and a system for clearing locations with loot. Stardew Valley brings cozy settlement life, character relationships, building, and farming. Gaming publications have already called Emberville “the collision of worlds we didn’t know we needed.” The developers emphasize, however, that this isn’t just another farming simulator, but a deep action-RPG with its own philosophy.
There are currently no official recommended requirements. Some sources indicate a higher processor, such as the Intel Core i5-2320, so it’s worth checking the official Steam page closer to release.
Early access will last approximately 12 months, during which time the developers plan to bring the game to full release. Monetization is a one-time purchase only, with no microtransactions. The game is now available to wishlist on Steam and GOG.
