Remothered: Tormented Fathers Remastered on Unreal Engine 5 — Release, Platforms, Tech - Image 1

The horror series Remothered is preparing for a return. Stormind Games has officially confirmed that both games—Tormented Fathers and Broken Porcelain—will receive full remasters using Unreal Engine 5. The release is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, Microsoft Store). The tentative release window is before the end of 2026; an exact date has not yet been announced.

What will change in the Unreal Engine 5 remasters?

The transition from version 4 to version 5 is a key event for the remasters. This is more than just a cosmetic upgrade: Unreal Engine 5 unlocks technologies that the 2018 original simply didn’t have.

  • Lumen—a real-time dynamic lighting system. Light now behaves naturally, and shadows and reflections have been recalculated. • Nanite — the geometric detail of the environments has been raised to a new level; textures reach up to 4K.
  • Character models have been more meticulously crafted, without losing their recognizable style.
  • Cinematic cutscenes have been completely rebuilt to meet modern standards.
  • The interface and menus have been updated, and all known bugs from the original have been fixed.

The developers specifically emphasize that the gameplay, balance, and mechanics remain intact. The series’ signature feature—the absence of a health bar, where the heroine’s condition is assessed by visual and behavioral cues—will remain.

System Requirements: What to Expect on PC

Official figures have not yet been released, but you can use the original as a starting point to estimate what the remaster will require. Here’s a comparison of the minimum and recommended requirements for the first game (2018) and the likely threshold for the UE5 version:

Parameter Original (Minimum) Original (Recommended) Expected for the Remaster
Operating System Windows 7 (64-bit) Windows 10 (64-bit) Windows 10/11 (64-bit)
Processor Quad-core 2.5 GHz Intel i7 / AMD 2.5 GHz Intel i5-8400 / Ryzen 5
Memory (RAM) 8 GB 12 GB 16 GB
Graphics Card GTX 470 / HD 6870 GTX 1060 GTX 1660 / RTX 2060
Storage 10 GB 10 GB ≈25 GB (due to 4K textures)

Of course, this is just a forecast. We will update the information as soon as official data becomes available. But it’s already clear: for comfortable gaming with Lumen and Nanite, the remaster will require more storage than the eight-year-old original. Why all this? Connection to Red Nun’s Legacy

The announcement of remasters is no coincidence. Stormind Games is preparing the release of the third and final installment in the franchise—Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy. Its release is also scheduled for 2026. Remasters essentially heat up interest and give new players the opportunity to experience the story from the very beginning.

Red Nun’s Legacy promises to expand the lore: new locations, fresh secrets, and unexpected plot twists. The game will add limited-edition melee weapons and unique psychic abilities. Cissy Jones (The Walking Dead, Firewatch) and Maggie Robertson (Lady Dimitrescu from Resident Evil Village) will join the voice cast. Stylistically, the project is inspired by Italian horror masters—Argento, Bava, and Fulci.

Antonio Cannata, CEO of Stormind, commented: “Remothered is a franchise we believe in. Remasters are a step toward strengthening the universe and a thank you to the community. We honor the past and build the future.” Logically, remasters should be released before the new game, so players can refresh their memories of the story. Stay tuned for more news.
