The Honkai: Star Rail crossover with the Fate/stay night universe has finally taken shape. On July 24th, an event banner will launch in the game, featuring Gilgamesh and Rin Tohsaka—arguably the most high-profile collaboration event in the title’s history. The five-star quantum character (recent leaks suggest the Erudite path, though previously mentioned Nonexistence) has already generated excitement in the community: Fate fans are preparing to snag her at any cost, and are also estimating how much resources they’ll need to invest in leveling her up. Fortunately, beta insiders have revealed almost everything: from the material list to the Eidolons. Granted, this is beta information and may change before release, but it at least provides a guideline.

When can we expect Rin Tohsaka and how does her banner work?
The banner itself launches on July 24th and, according to the developers, will be in the game “for a long time”—apparently, over several patches. However, there’s a catch: the guarantee on this event banner doesn’t overlap with regular temporary banners, so you’ll have to save up your spins separately. If you’re specifically targeting Rin, it’s best to save your Star Jades and not spend them on other events. Incidentally, Gilgamesh will be featured alongside her in the banner, but which one you choose to target is a matter of personal preference.
All Ascension and Trail Materials
To max out Rin Tohsaka, you’ll need to grind quite a bit. Here’s what’s required to Ascend (increase her level and stats):
General requirements: 15 Thief’s Instincts, 15 Twisted Ambition, 15 Conqueror’s Will, 65 Taunting Harlequins, and 308,000 Credits.
The level breakdown is as follows:
-
Level 20: 5 Thief’s Instincts (4,000 credits) — rewards a standard pass.
-
Level 30: 10 Thief’s Instincts (8,000 credits) — no reward.
-
Level 40: 6 Twisted Ambition + 3 Taunting Harlequins (16,000 credits) — another pass.
-
Level 50: 9 Twisted Ambition + 7 Taunting Harlequins (40,000 credits).
-
Level 60: 6 Conqueror’s Will + 20 Taunting Harlequins (80,000 credits) — pass.
-
Level 70: 9 Conqueror’s Will + 35 Taunting Harlequins (160,000 credits). This is quite a set—you’ll need almost a hundred Harlequins, especially if you count all levels. We recommend stocking up in advance, especially since the drops of these materials can be fickle.
As for Traces (leveling up abilities), the volume is even more impressive. To fully unlock all branches, you’ll need:
-
8 Imprints of Fate, 12 Destroyer’s Final Paths, 18 Celestial Globes,
-
41 Thief’s Instinct, 56 Twisted Ambition, 58 Conqueror’s Will,
-
69 Galaxy Framework, 139 Cosmic Sandpit, and, mind you, 3 million credits.
This is a serious investment of time and resources. As they say, prepare your credits and patience—leveling up will take more than one day.
Skills and Eidolons: What can the heroine do?
Rin’s basic attack, Bajiquan, deals quantum damage to a single target with a coefficient of 50% of attack power. But her main value, of course, lies in her Eidolons—they significantly change gameplay. According to leaks from honeyhunterworld, the full set looks like this:
-
E1 (Zelrech’s Disciple): If an enhanced skill consumes 30+ Gem Energy, Rin gains a Shadow Gem proportional to the cost. With this buff, the skill becomes a Second Magic Experiment, which consumes no energy and does not trigger skill point conversion.
-
E2 (Interdimensional Wanderer): Rin’s skill damage is increased by 30%, and the skill damage of all allies on the field is equal to 130% of the original—a powerful support effect.
-
E3 (Holy Grail War): +2 skill levels and +1 basic attack.
-
E4 (Red Devil): The crit damage buff from the Gem Magic talent can stack up to two times.
-
E5 (Venus’s Favor): +2 talent levels and Super Ability.
-
E6 (It Worked This Time!): All resistance penetration increases by 20%, and when using a Super Ability, Rin gains 24 Gem Energy and an extra turn.
The last Eidolon is especially devastating—the extra turn and resistance penetration can radically change tactics. Getting six copies of Rin will obviously be difficult, but even at E1 or E2, she can become a key unit in Quantum Squads.
We repeat: all these numbers and mechanics are in beta and may be adjusted before the official release. But it’s already clear: Rin Tohsaka is a character worth pursuing. Especially since the crossover with Fate is a one-time event, and it’s unknown when it will happen again. So if you’re a fan of the universe or just looking to bolster your collection, now’s the time to stock up on resources and items. Good luck on the banner!
