Season 8 of the OG cycle is drawing to a close, and this week we’re delving into cyberpunk aesthetics. Fortnite is switching up the clock again—this time, with neon lights, floating platforms, and weapons that look like they were assembled from starship parts. Season 9 kicks off on June 25th, and it’s more than just another map change: Epic Games is clearly going for a futuristic vibe, and based on recent leaks, it’s going to be more than many expect.

Fortnite Season 9 Start Time

The starting point is Thursday, June 25th. At 11:00 AM Moscow time, the servers will go down for maintenance. This usually takes a couple of hours, so you can log in by 2:00 PM Moscow time. However, as usual, it could be delayed—or launched earlier. Keep your eyes peeled. For those who don’t live in Moscow, here’s a cheat sheet for start times in different regions (yes, the table below is also a snippet for search engines):

Time Zone Start Time
Los Angeles (PT) 4:00
Chicago (CT) 6:00
New York (ET) 7:00
Brasilia (BRT) 8:00
Greenwich (UTC) 11:00
London (BST) 12:00
Paris (CEST) 13:00
Johannesburg (SAST) 13:00
Dubai (GST) 15:00
Seoul (KST) 20:00
Tokyo (JST) 20:00
Sydney (AEST) 21:00

Make sure to close everything in the current season before Thursday, otherwise the “Royal Victory” and the winner’s umbrella will float away. The OG Season 8 Pass will also close, so if you haven’t earned all the rewards, it’s time to catch up.

What do you need to do before the end of OG Season 8

Epic Games originally planned to wrap up OG Season 8 a little earlier, on June 17, but the developers ultimately moved the deadline to June 25. This unexpected head start has become an excellent opportunity for those who haven’t managed to close any in-game gaps. The battle royale servers will go into scheduled maintenance at approximately 11:00 AM Moscow time. Once the downtime begins, the current OG Pass for Season 8 will be permanently locked, and all remaining skins and cosmetics will be forfeited.

How to quickly level up the OG Pass Battle Pass

Before the servers go down, players should focus on items that can’t be purchased with V-Bucks or upgraded later. Time is running out, so it’s important to follow a clear plan.

  • Unique Victory Umbrella. This reward is awarded exclusively for a Victory Royale during the current competitive cycle. If you don’t already have this glider, you only need to earn at least one Solo match. This umbrella cannot be purchased later in the Item Shop at any cost—it’s a seasonal exclusive.
  • Max level for the OG Pass Season 8. Reach the final tiers for unique skins, pickaxes, and emotes. The premium pass track will close, and items from it will never be included in the rotation.
  • Seasonal XP quests. If your BP progress stalls somewhere in the middle, selectively complete the challenges with the heaviest XP packs. This is the fastest way to boost levels in the final hours.
  • Check your account sync. A simple but important tip: log in to the game before maintenance begins. Epic Games traditionally crashes databases and breaks reward displays at the junction of major updates, so it’s best to make sure all your progress is correctly recorded by the system.

Meanwhile, the Gone Wild limited-time event is ending. If you were hunting for rare sprites, stop all other activities and clear this area before patch 41.10 goes live. With the release of the update, all Gone Wild content will completely disappear from Fortnite along with Season 8.

Season 9 Update and New Map Overview

Rhox and Demi Skins in the New Fortnite Pass

Let’s start with the main event—the OG Pass for 800 V-Bucks. It contains three new skins: Roxx, Demi, and Devourer. The first is clearly a rock star from the future, the second is something between a hacker and a cyborg, and the third—well, judging by the name, he’s quite the monster. Plus a bunch of little things: emotes, pickaxes, and wraps—the standard set, but visually, everything is designed in a “minimalist cyberpunk” style.

Map Changes and New Locations Neo Tilted

The map will be completely transformed. Gone are the green hills, replaced by a neon jungle. Key points of interest:

Neo Tilted Fortnite Season 9

  • Neo Tilted—good old Tilted, but rebuilt from glass and LEDs.
  • Megamall—a huge shopping center, which I suspect will become a new meat grinder.
  • Pressure Plant—an industrial zone with tons of vertical structures and hidden passages.
  • Sky Platforms—floating islands connected by air currents. Moving quickly across them is a lot more than just stomping around.

The Armory will also be updated. The following weapons will return: the Drum Shotgun (remember its spread?), the Semi-Auto Sniper Rifle, the Tactical Assault Rifle, the Combat Shotgun, the Close-Range Grenade Launcher, the Burst-Run SMG, as well as grenades and the Coup Grenade. But the main feature is the Infinity Blade. It’s a melee weapon, but also the core mechanic of the season: it can cut down structures, deal damage, and possibly even deflect incoming shots—details are still vague, but insiders are already trumpeting the new meta-tool.

Story Event and the Infinity Blade in the Game

Besides all of this, it feels like Epic is rebooting old content and preparing a global event in the spirit of the “end times.” Remember how they hosted live concerts and invasions in previous seasons? It’s quite possible that Season 9 won’t just be a map change, but rather a story event related to the Infinity Blade and the time loop. It’s quite possible that dynamic points will appear on the map as the season progresses, opening access to secret locations, and at the end of the season, a full-blown, devastating finale will occur—just like in the good old days. This is the very twist that will transform a simple remaster into a full-fledged adventure. Keep an eye on in-game messages and dates—Epic will likely announce something big in the first few weeks.

Don’t wait until tomorrow—claim your Season 8 rewards, adjust your builds for the new mechanics, and prepare for the future. Season 9 is going to be a blast—and not just because of the neon lights.
