Let’s be patient. The release of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is officially delayed beyond 2026. Paramount Games Studio has confirmed that the ambitious project from Amy Hennig and the team at Skydance New Media is alive and well, playable, but simply not ready. Fans will have to wait until at least 2027—which, mind you, is a full six years since its initial announcement.

What’s happening with the development of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, and why is the release being delayed?

The information vacuum surrounding the title has predictably generated a host of questions (which is understandable in today’s industry). Gamers have begun to wonder if the large-scale, story-driven action game has stalled. However, Sean Kittelsen, head of creative at Paramount Games, hastened to calm the panic. According to him, the publisher has implicit faith in Amy Hennig. The project not only exists on the developers’ workstations, but continues to be heavily invested in, but no one intends to release a finished product. The main reason for the prolonged wait lies in ambition. Skydance New Media initially aimed for a benchmark AAA level, while the team itself was assembled literally from scratch in the midst of the pandemic. First, the technical team had to meticulously build an internal toolkit, and only then did the studio move into full-fledged production.

Ultimately, management made the unpopular but sensible decision to give the creators as much time as they needed to polish the project. Yes, this is another bitter pill to swallow for the community. But the main thing we heard was: the studio definitely has no plans to cancel one of its most important debuts.
