It seems the long-awaited action game from Remedy Entertainment is just around the corner. Based on leaked information, the release is set for the near future. And that’s no joke.

Control Resonant Plot and Protagonist

Control Resonant is perhaps one of the most intriguing new releases this year. Remedy has been regularly dropping details in recent months: the project is listed as a sequel to 2019’s Control, but will also tell a separate story. Players will take on the role of not Jesse Faden, but her brother, Dylan. Sounds intriguing, right?

Until now, the studio has remained tight-lipped about when exactly we’ll be able to try out this character. But now that could change dramatically.

Control Resonant Release Date Leaked

While fans are speculating whether the new game will be shown at the upcoming Summer Game Fest, State of Play, or Xbox Games Showcase, some concrete details have surfaced online. Gamescomingout.com, a portal that compiles release calendars, has posted a page for Control Resonant. It states that the game will be released on June 30th.

Of course, such information is usually treated with a grain of salt. It’s entirely possible that it’s just a placeholder or someone’s rough estimate. In the comments, users are debating: some are shouting “it’s too early,” while others rightly point out that the first summer events start next week—the perfect time for a trailer announcing the final date.

It’s worth remembering history here. The first Control also released in the summer—on August 27, 2019. And the fall release schedule looks pretty tight. So a June date isn’t all that far-fetched. Besides, Remedy is clearly reassured about the project’s continued interest: the studio’s head appears relaxed, and that’s saying something.

If the leak is confirmed, we’re just over a month away from Control Resonant.

The Game World and the Northlight Graphics Engine

In this article, we’ll explore where the story will take us. Remedy is preparing something big. It seems the Oldest House will no longer be the only location, as the trailers clearly show glimpses of city streets with massive modernist architecture. The locations will sparkle with new colors. Literally. The developers have updated the Northlight engine—the same team that brought us Alan Wake 2 is working on it. Changes have even affected the Astral Plane, where the familiar monochrome has given way to aggressive, deep, anomalous hues and crazy geometry.

Abilities of Dylan Faden and Combat System

A change of power is inevitable. This time, the protagonist will be Dylan Faden, whom the FBC kept locked away in a secret facility for years as a test subject. Why him? The character managed to establish direct mental contact with the Hiss entity even before the 2019 disaster. And this connection is the cornerstone of the upcoming title’s mechanics. Unlike Jesse Faden, the former prisoner draws his paranormal powers from a completely different, far more dangerous source.

How will this impact the combat system? We can expect a completely redesigned physics system. The signature Service Weapon will return, but with completely different modifications, and the basic telekinetic ability will have new grab animations.

Hiss Mutation and Enemy Behavior in Combat

Old tactics can safely be thrown out the window. Enemies have significantly mutated. Forget the patterns from Control (2019) – having adapted since the ending of the first game, the Hiss moves differently, reacts more cunningly to hits, and will give gamers a real workout.

Comparison of Control Resonant with the 2019 original

To break it all down, we’ve compiled the key changes in a handy table.

Control vs Control Resonant

Parameter Control (2019) Control Resonant
Protagonist Jesse Faden, the new Director Dylan Faden, a former “object”
Story opening Comes from outside, unaware of the paranormal Inside the system, connected to the Hiss
Main threat The original Hiss invasion A mutated Hiss after the 2019 finale
Game world The Oldest House and the Astral Plane The Oldest House + external city locations
Technology Base Northlight engine from 2019 Updated Northlight from the Alan Wake 2 team

Multiplayer and Co-op Mode in the Game

Network analysts can relax. Contrary to popular rumors, there is no multiplayer or co-op mode to be expected. The Finns at Remedy are true to themselves and are fundamentally focusing on a deep single-player narrative. Story comes first.
