With the release of patch 1.04.00, Crimson Desert added a unique feature—a bird feeder, also known as the “Totem Pole of Bonds.” This new feature is essential for taming birds and acquiring flying pets. The best part is, if you’ve already completed the “Inaccessible Village” quest, the bird feeder is probably gathering dust in your personal storage at the Camp on Wolf Hill. Check it out—you won’t have to run to the ends of the earth to get it.

Where to get a totem pole (also known as a bird feeder)
The bird feeder is awarded for completing the faction quest “Inaccessible Village”—it’s located in the “Guardians of Pororin Forest” tab of the Ernand faction.
How to unlock the quest:
Travel to Pororin (see the map above).
Let the local mobs stun you three times. Yes, on purpose.
Afterwards, you’ll find the Pororin Relic—it’s hidden at the top of a walking tree in Pororin.
Return the relic to a character named Arkin.
Reward: The Totem Pole of Bonds. If you’ve already completed this quest, you’ll definitely find it in your personal storage at the Camp on Wolf Hill.
Placing and feeding the birds
The totem pole is essentially a portable feeder. It can be placed almost anywhere on the map. Birds will fly in, peck at the food, and gradually increase their trust in you. When the bar is full, adopt the bird as a pet.
How to place:
Hold L1, aim at the ground (an outline of the item will appear), and press Triangle on PlayStation or Y on Xbox.
What to feed:
Approach the placed feeder, press Square (X on Xbox), and place any food item. Grain, meat, or leftovers will all do—birds aren’t picky.
Another advantage: tamed birds in Crimson Desert aren’t just cute companions. They help you find hidden resources or distract enemies in battle. Spending a couple of minutes on the feeder is definitely worth it.
Lost an item? We’ll restore it for next to nothing
Sometimes the Totem Pole of Uz disappears from your inventory without a trace. The developers have anticipated this.
Go to the Camp on Wolf Hill and find Carlo, the camp’s inventory manager. Select “Restore Lost Item” in the dialogue. You’ll see the missing feeder in the list. The ransom costs a symbolic one silver coin. Voila—the pillar is back with you.
