DICE Studio has released a new content update for Battlefield 6. The large—scale “Operation Augur” begins today. The developers apparently do not give up trying to return the shooter to the status of a national hit, relying on hybrid gameplay and a gradual increase in pace.

The focus is on the new interim regime, where NATO forces will clash with the Pax Armata group. The mission structure resembles classic “Assaults”: attackers need to sequentially clear five sectors, divided into two global stages. DICE decided to combine the corporate chaos of large maps with a point-by-point tactical confrontation for each point.

What awaits the players in the first stage of Operation Augur?

The start of the operation will take place in open spaces, where it will be easiest for the equipment to roam. The Infected sector will require control over five targets at once, which is not an easy task. Further, the degree of tension only increases:

  • “Chamelet”: a location with narrow passages and an extensive network of trenches — a paradise for infantry skirmishes;
  • “Maintenance hangar”: the most understandable, linear battlefield, where the positions of the sides are separated by a clear front line;
  • Ramp/Apron: an area with watchtowers that give an advantage to those who know how to play “from height”;
  • “Entrance to the Hagenthal base”: the finale of the first stage, where a multi-level design will make you constantly look around (yes, vertical gameplay solves everything here).

Battlefield 6 Operation Augur gameplay

Phase two: survival in the cramped corridors of the Hagenthal Base

If the first half of the operation is about scale, then the second half is about pure adrenaline and claustrophobia. Players are driven inside the “Hagenthal Base”, where spaces are narrowed to the limit. By the way, tank lovers have nothing to do here: in the “Emergency Generators” sector, the equipment is completely blocked, so prepare shotguns and PP.

In the “Central Tunnel”, the entire bet is on flanking detours, and in the “Depot” the slaughter will be concentrated around a single platform on an elevation. The final chord will sound in the “Server Room”. Based on the details in the description, this will be the closest and most brutal point where the outcome of the match will be decided by reaction and a timely thrown grenade.

DICE followed the path of enhancing contrasts. It seems like this is an attempt to please both Metro fans and those who appreciate Battlefield for its scope. We will find out in the coming days how successfully Operation Augur resuscitates online in April 2026. Coincidence or not, the game needed such a content injection right now. Have time to try it out while the mission is available.
