The developers from KRAFTON decided to go all-in by releasing PUBG Blindspot, a radical reinterpretation of Rainbow Six Siege mechanics, but with a camera “in the sky”.

Early access to the project started on February 5, and, to tell the truth, we have already run the game through an analytical filter in order to understand its esports prospects. In fact, this is a free-to-play shooter for PC with a classic 5-on-5 session structure, where teams take turns defying or storming bomb sites. Interestingly, this is a pure-blooded hiro shooter: guns are rigidly attached to the characters, but the devices can be customized to suit your style. The whole thrill, in general, lies in how the game forces the gamer to work with the place and information.

PUBG Blindspot gameplay and Early Access Review System

The game has just flown into early access, and it feels like something alien against the background of the familiar genre. The isometry here is not just a third—person view, but a camera as far away as possible, turning the maps into a confusing maze of corridors.

PUBG Blindspot First Impressions

It looks like a Siege.

KRAFTON has implemented a feature with transparent roofs, but the main point is in the experimental review system. When the character raises the barrel, a cone of “light” cuts through in front of him — and only there, in this spot, you can see the enemy. Curiously, this “vision” is common to the entire squad: you can burn down an enemy in the corner of the monitor simply because an ally at the other end of the corridor caught his eye.

The name Blindspot, in short, describes the gameplay well: You’re either in sight or in a blind spot. The survival strategy is based on constantly diving into these blind spots and going to the rear — this approach, apparently, will be the key to winning tournaments. Experienced fans of tactical FPS, however, will have to spend time getting used to the camera and shooting, because the learning curve here, judging by the first skating rinks, is extremely steep.

Character selection and Blind Spot match format

The battle in the “Blind Spot” is actually a pretty fast sprint: a maximum of seven rounds, and the first one to score four points takes the victory flag. After three rounds, a classic castling occurs — attackers and defenders change roles, and at the same time, the pool of characters. It’s interesting, by the way, that not all agents here are locked into the same role, although there are plenty of exceptions.

Rounds, Agents and Game Pacing

For example, the Apex, a typical attack aircraft with a rifle and a zoning grenade, is available strictly on the attack.

Other heroes, like Patch with his foam-concrete walls, feel great on both sides of the barricades. The agents’ guns are fixed, just like in Siege, and each one differs in its recoil and rate of fire, so it won’t be possible to “clamp” to the point. Plus, everyone is given a choice of universal gadgets: from thorns and defa shields to a standard set of grenades for opening positions.

Being in early access, the project, in truth, is in dire need of a file, especially in terms of balance. Agent Whistle’s Blue Chip Tracker now feels like a legal cheat, while the Clarice motion sensor is, to be honest, useless garbage that no one wants to pick up.

Prospects of PUBG Blindspot in esports and online on Steam

Prospects of PUBG Blindspot

Despite all the sores of the raw release, fans of tactics get a real buzz from the game. The main problem here is the uncertainty that stifles any new service at the start. Will KRAFTON have enough innovation and chewing on old ideas to keep people in retirement? An extensive question.

PUBG, of course, can rely on its large fan network and the budgets of its parent company, so Blindspot will definitely receive a powerful marketing kick. But since there is not enough content yet — the agents and maps are gone — the whole burden falls on the gameplay itself. Will it survive in an oversaturated genre?

In terms of entertainment, the game actually looks like a good entertainment product. Isometry gives the viewer a lot of information that you won’t see in regular FPS, although the action now takes place a little further from the observer’s eyes.

Blindspot’s uniqueness lies in its focus on brains rather than microcontrol, which distinguishes it from “head—shooting games” like CS2 or VALORANT. However, the harsh reality of SteamDB, with a peak of 3,000 people at launch, suggests that the future of the project hangs in the balance — and only KRAFTON’s solutions will show whether this will become a new discipline or remain a niche experiment.

With these introductory notes, the next chapter in the studio’s history may be written not in code, but in financial statements that will determine whether we will see a full-fledged release or whether the project will quietly fade into the shadows.
