Sometimes, esports isn't just about victories and titles. It's also about patience, perseverance, and love for what you do. This is the path chosen by Frey Zeke Douglas Karlsson Biverstrand, better known in the Fortnite community as WaiZ. He hails from Sweden, and even though his name rarely makes headlines, there's a real story of struggle and progress behind him.

From the first steps to confident results

WaiZ started his journey in Fortnite back in 2019. It wasn't just a hobby — he immediately took it seriously. He received his first serious prize — $1,200 — in December 2019 at the Winter Royale tournament. And that was just the start. 2020 and 2021 were truly breakthrough years for him:
  • In 2020, he confidently established himself online, earning almost $6,000 in nine tournaments.
  • And in 2021, without any teams or sponsors behind him, he earned $13,400, playing solo. It was his personal best year, and probably the moment when he really believed in himself.

WaiZ's Biggest Successes

Here are a few tournaments where Frey really showed himself:
  • FNCS: Chapter 2 Season 6 (May 2021) - 11th place and $5,000. This was his biggest payout of his entire career.
  • FNCS: All-Star Showdown (June 2021) - one of the most competitive solo tournaments in Europe. WaiZ entered the top 64 and took home $4,000.
  • FNCS: Grand Royale 2021 - another $4,000 for a confident 21st place.
These achievements speak for themselves: despite the competition and the lack of a team, he still reached a serious level.

He was never "in a team" - and this makes his path even steeper

Almost every successful Fortnite player joins an organization, gets support, coaches, analysts. And WaiZ? He went alone. He played all 22 of his tournaments as an independent player, and still managed to collect $25,050 in prize money. This is a pure result: no team, no sponsors, just him, his skill and perseverance.

Why is it worth following WaiZ?

Because he is one of the few who plays for love, not for the hype. He follows his own path, does not try to seem like someone else and does not throw around promises. And it is these players who eventually come to the most important thing - the respect of the community and your own feeling that you did everything right.
