A real frenzy is brewing in Argentina — FiReSPORTS boss Rodrigo Figueroa Reyes has finally rolled out the details of FiRe Major Buenos Aires 2027 on CS2. According to insiders, we are waiting for not just a tournament, but a show on a global scale: all major stages, without exception, will be held with the audience, and the launch event promises to compete with the opening of the football World Cup in terms of pathos.
According to the dates, everything already fits together — the grandiose event will unfold from May 31 to June 20, 2027. Exactly 32 teams will meet in the battle for a substantial jackpot — the prize pool will be exactly $ 1.25 million. By the way, the famous Movistar Arena, which can accommodate 15,000 fans and create an unreal atmosphere, will host the decisive rounds of the playoffs.
The climax will be as aesthetic as possible — the final chord and the closing ceremony will be held at the legendary Colon Opera House, which is rightfully considered the cultural heart of Buenos Aires. It is worth considering that there is another important stage waiting for us before the Argentine holiday: IEM Cologne Major 2026. The German Major will be held from June 2 to June 21, 2026 with the same prize money and the same number of participants.
As for Cologne, we will find out the full composition of the participating teams in April 2026 – everything will be decided based on the current VRS rating. In truth, FiReSPORTS has raised the bar of expectations to the skies, turning an ordinary competition into a cultural phenomenon.
But the scale of Figueroa Reyes’ plans — especially the live hall in the early stages — will definitely make competitors nervous.

Detailed format of the FiRe Major 2027 tournament: three Swiss stages + playoffs

In fact, FiRe Major 2027 aims to become the main event of the year in the world of Counter-Strike 2. The organizers have already confirmed the participation of 32 teams selected according to strict regional criteria and global leaderboards, and an impressive $1.25 million is at stake. In truth, this is the level of a full—fledged Valve Major – the teams will compete not only for a lot of money, but also for tickets to future top tournaments.
FiRe Major format: three Swiss stages and a playoff
Immediately after the qualifiers are completed, the participants will enter a real meat grinder. They decided to run the entire FiRe Major 2027 through three consecutive Swiss stages — Stage 1, Stage 2 and the final Stage 3. Such a Swiss CS2 Major system has already been tested at the latest majors from Valve and has proven its professional suitability. A huge plus, by the way, is in that very live hall from the very first minutes: fans will see every fragment on huge monitors, which guarantees a furious drive and, frankly, fat contracts with sponsors.
Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3: Swiss CS2 Major System
Each stage here is built according to the golden canons. Everyone starts with fast Bo1 duels that set the pace, but you’ll have to sweat in full-fledged Bo3 series to survive or enter the next phase. The scheme is transparent: if you score three wins, you move on, grab three pockets, and pack your bags.
The first stage (Stage 1) will bring together all 32 teams distributed by seeding. The winners of Bo1 matches immediately fly into strong opponents, while the losers are on equal footing. As a result, the top eight line-ups make their way to Stage 2, where the circle of hell repeats from the very beginning.
Then comes Stage 3, the final Swiss sieve, where the eight lucky winners who will take the slots in the playoffs will be determined. This approach practically eliminates the random factor: favorites are less likely to be eliminated by mistake, although dark horses always have a chance for a loud upset.

Playoffs: Single Elimination with Bo3 and Bo3 in the Grand Final
As soon as the Swiss are finished, the decisive phase begins — the classic Single Elimination. All relegation battles will be held in the Bo3 format, including, by the way, the grand finale, unless Valve decides to roll out some of its own edits at the last moment. They plan to fit the entire playoffs, from the quarterfinals to the finals, into one powerful weekend with short pauses for in-depth mappik analysis.
The combination of Bo1 and Bo3 formats is perhaps ideal for modern CS2: groups fly dynamically, and the playoffs reveal the depth of strategies. The teams that finish Stage 3 with a score of 3-0 will receive a certain seeding bonus, but in the playoffs, no one is immune from an outsider comeback.
As a result, FiRe Major almost carbon copies the structure of the latest majors, from PGL to Perfect World. This guarantees not only fair play, but also maximum entertainment for you and me. Everything is very meaningful.
It will be interesting to see how such a rigid 32-team structure will affect the endurance of the players for the final day in Buenos Aires.
