A poor start to the grand final could not stop Team Spirit. The team won three consecutive maps against FUT, claimed the Esports World Cup 2026 Counter-Strike 2 championship and left Paris with the tournament’s top prize. The series ended 3–1, while the individual MVP award went to Danil “donk” Kryshkovets.

The final did not begin according to Spirit’s plan. FUT selected Cache and made the most of its map pick, winning 13–10. However, that early setback never developed into a serious threat to Spirit’s title run. The team quickly adjusted and took control of the series.

How Team Spirit Defeated FUT in the EWC 2026 Final

Anubis went to overtime, where Spirit proved more composed and secured a 16–13 victory. Ancient produced another closely contested battle. Regulation once again failed to separate the teams, but Spirit handled the decisive rounds better and closed the map 16–14.

Nuke became the final map of the series. This time, FUT could not keep the score close: Spirit built a commanding 10–2 lead on the CT side before completing a 13–5 victory. The fifth map was no longer required.

Final map results:

  • Cache — 10–13;
  • Anubis — 16–13;
  • Ancient — 16–14;
  • Nuke — 13–5.

The victory earned Team Spirit $600,000 from the tournament’s $2 million prize pool. FUT received $340,000 for finishing second. With 32 teams competing at the Paris event, the title required far more than one successful match — Spirit had to maintain its form throughout an extended tournament run.

The quarterfinal against Vitality became one of the defining stages of that run. Spirit eliminated one of the main favorites with a 2–1 victory before comfortably beating Legacy 2–0 in the semifinal. FUT reached the decisive match after pulling off an upset against FURIA.

Why donk Won the Esports World Cup 2026 MVP Medal

Donk remained Spirit’s main source of firepower throughout the tournament. In the grand final, he recorded 88 kills against 70 deaths, posted a 1.36 rating and finished as the highest-rated Spirit player. His average damage reached 91.9 per round.

The championship was not carried by one star alone, however. Zont1x and tN1R delivered important rounds in difficult moments, while sh1ro made a particularly valuable contribution on Nuke and during overtime on Ancient. That support helped Spirit survive the closest maps, where even donk’s individual brilliance might not have been enough on its own.

For supporters, the EWC 2026 result proves that the current Team Spirit roster can do more than overwhelm opponents in one-sided matches. It can also recover from a difficult start and win a long, high-pressure series. The next tournaments will show whether the Paris title becomes the beginning of another extended winning run, but for now Spirit once again looks like the team everyone else must chase.
