The Story of Ziggs
Ziggs’ path to becoming one of Runeterra’s most notorious bomb-makers started with something ordinary: boredom.
From a Piltover Workshop to Zaun’s Underbelly
He worked as an inventor’s assistant in Piltover, the polished City of Progress, but found the predictability of that life stifling for a yordle with a taste for short fuses and loud results. A friendship with a wild, blue-haired bomber he met in the city changed his trajectory. After one particularly rowdy night out, he took her advice and relocated to Zaun, where he now chases his fascinations without Piltover’s constraints, terrorizing chem-barons and ordinary citizens alike in his pursuit of the next big explosion.
An Arsenal Built Around Timing
His passive, Short Fuse, periodically loads his next basic attack with bonus magic damage, and that cooldown shortens every time he casts a spell, rewarding constant ability use. Bouncing Bomb, his Q, lobs an explosive that ricochets before detonating on the first enemy it catches. Satchel Charge doubles as both escape tool and area denial, going off after a delay or on a second cast to knock enemies away, and Ziggs himself can ride the blast to launch over walls. Hexplosive Minefield scatters proximity mines that punish enemies for clustering together, though repeated hits on the same target lose potency. His ultimate, Mega Inferno Bomb, is his signature calling card, hurled across an enormous distance and hitting hardest at the center of its blast.
In practice, that arsenal rewards patience as much as chaos. Even from a distance, Ziggs can still swing a fight by dropping Mega Inferno Bomb on a target he can’t otherwise reach, and slowing enemies first with Hexplosive Minefield makes his other spells far easier to land. He can also turn Satchel Charge into a personal escape, launching himself over terrain when chasing or fleeing. The tradeoff is timing — several of his abilities carry long cooldowns, so opponents who catch him right after he’s unloaded them often find him unexpectedly exposed. Other figures tied to his old home in Piltover, including Heimerdinger and Jayce, remain part of the wider cast his story continues to brush against.
