The Story of Heimerdinger
Professor Cecil B. Heimerdinger has outlasted nearly everyone else on the Council of Piltover. As its longest-serving member, he has watched the city’s endless appetite for progress produce both its finest achievements and its worst excesses, and through all of it he has stayed exactly what he started as: an inventor, first and always, more interested in devices than politics.
What sets him apart from the rest of Piltover‘s inventors isn’t ambition — plenty of the gleaming City of Progress’s brightest minds have that in no short supply — but intent. Heimerdinger builds to help people, and his unconventional gadgets on the Rift are best understood as a working demonstration of that habit:
- H-28 G Evolution Turret — a rapid-fire cannon he plants on the field, equipped with a secondary beam attack, though it only deals half damage against towers.
- Hextech Micro-Rockets — a volley of long-range rockets that converge wherever he points, useful for covering ground his turrets can’t reach.
- CH-2 Electron Storm Grenade — a lobbed grenade that stuns anyone hit directly and slows everyone caught in the surrounding blast, his main answer to anyone trying to close the distance.
- UPGRADE!!! — his ultimate, which doesn’t add a new gadget at all but instead supercharges whichever of the above he casts next.
His passive, Hextech Affinity, ties him directly to his own inventions, granting him extra speed whenever he’s fighting near a turret he’s deployed — a small mechanical reminder that Heimerdinger, playing Mid or Support as a Mage, is never really alone on the field so long as one of his machines is still standing. It’s a fitting kit for a teacher and scientist who has spent a very long career, running on mana rather than raw muscle, proving that a good idea deployed at the right moment can matter more than brute force.
