Amumu

Nobody tells an Amumu story the same way twice, and that is sort of the point. He is said to be a lonely, sorrowful figure out of ancient Shurima, wandering the world in search of a single friend, though friendship is the one thing he is cursed never to keep.

The curse works through contact: his touch brings death, his affection brings ruin, and so every attempt at closeness ends the way it always ends. Those who claim to have actually seen him describe something closer to a small, wrapped cadaver than a person, dragging bandages that never seem to unravel. Bandage Toss pulls him toward whatever he has marked, stunning it on arrival, and Despair drains health from everything nearby simply by his presence, refreshing the same lingering Curse that his basic attacks apply. Tantrum lets him shrug off a portion of incoming physical damage permanently and unleash it back outward, with each hit against him shortening the wait before he can do it again, while Curse of the Sad Mummy binds a whole group in the same bandages that define him, as if loneliness itself were catching and everyone nearby had just become part of his story whether they wanted to or not.

Generations of retellings, songs, and folklore have piled onto the original story until separating fact from invention is no longer really possible, which suits a figure whose whole nature is built on things nobody can get close enough to verify. He shares that origin with the buried empire of Shurima, itself half legend and half history, and with fellow Shuriman entries like Azir and Akshan, whose own stories are just as tangled up in the same sand, each one a different kind of half-truth the desert has kept buried for a very long time.
