Yorick vs Poppy Counter Pick

Half of Poppy’s kit is aimed at a champion Yorick is not. Steadfast Presence stops dashes and Keeper’s Verdict throws a diving enemy far away, and neither has a target here: Yorick walks, his ghouls walk, and the Maiden of the Mist follows on foot. What remains is a duel between two durable melee champions, and 244 games on patch 16.13.1 give 57.0% to Yorick.

Armor is the wrinkle. Poppy reaches 120 armor at level 18, above the 112.5 on the other side, and Steadfast Presence adds armor and magic resistance passively, with the bonus rising as her health falls. Against a purely physical attacker that would be decisive; Yorick’s damage is mixed, so the armor she stacks covers only part of the incoming total, and Mourning Mist strips some of it before the fight starts. Her counterplay is terrain: Heroic Charge stuns anything it pushes into a wall, and a carelessly placed Dark Procession hands her that wall. Reach favours Yorick at 175 against 125, health favours him at 2,588 against 2,480, and both champions sit at a difficulty rating of 6 — the advantage is structural rather than mechanical, which is why it survives mistakes.
