Subnautica 2 is a complex game. Resources are scattered sparingly, and some have to be found only bit by bit. Lead is one of them. Without it, you can’t craft a sonic resonator, and without a resonator, you can’t reach large deposits. A vicious circle, yes. But a manageable one.
The problem is that the deposits are quite far from the escape pod—about 250 meters—and there are underwater currents and predators. I wouldn’t recommend trying without oxygen. At the start, the game shows only two points on the scanner, and both point in the same direction. Right now, in the early version, that’s all there is. They promise to improve the situation with patches for release 1.0, but for now, we’re making do with what we’ve been given.

Where to find lead in Subnautica 2 deposit coordinates
You need to search approximately 254 meters east-northeast—65 degrees from the escape pod, according to the compass. The depth is about 60 meters. The landmark is the underwater current that runs right alongside the deposits. Follow it and you’ll come across a small research table. Nearby is a “Tadpole” fragment, which you can scan. Lead ore is lying right next to the table.

The second deposit is nearby, slightly northeast. If you explore the area, you’ll definitely notice it. By the way, lead is easily confused with titanium—they’re similar in color. So, before collecting, look at the clues and don’t grab everything at once.
How to craft a sonic resonator for ore mining
The Sonic Resonator, which allows you to mine large deposits, requires lead. So, you’ll first have to go and collect regular ore manually—without a resonator, usually collecting small pieces. Then craft a tool, return with it, and dig up a full supply. Two trips, at least.

There are several large veins in the locations—if you empty your inventory, you can haul a lot at once. This is especially useful for recipes that require lead.
Crafting recipes for lead and Saturn Sugar
Saturn Sugar is a key ingredient for almost all advanced foods. It can’t be made without lead. So save up your ore and don’t be lazy about going back and forth. And stay tuned—there will be more deposits by the full release. For now, these two spots are yours.
Errors when farming ore in the ravine near Cicada Wreck
Searching for resources at the start is always exhausting. In Subnautica 2, newbies regularly waste time and inventory at lead deposits, tripping over the game’s basic mechanics. Hardcore has nothing to do with it. It’s a matter of a few specific miscalculations that turn routine grinding into a respawn simulator.
Clearing your inventory and crafting a sonic resonator
Arriving at the ravine with pockets full of quartz is a classic example of this. Lead ore requires space. Before heading out, be sure to unload 6-8 slots. Large veins near the Cicada Wreck wreckage (in the Lander Garage location) drop 5 units of the resource at a time. It’s more than possible to carry everything in one go if you dump the junk at the base beforehand.
The second problem lies in the equipment. Rich deposits cannot be dug up with bare hands (a sonic resonator is required). Gfinity Esports experts offer a working algorithm: on the first run, vacuum up only small pieces purely for crafting, and on the second, clean out all the large components.
Defense against Marrowbeach in the Lander Garage location
Staying high above the dark canyon floor is an instinct that is guaranteed to kill you. The local predator, Marrowbeach, patrols the middle waters and instantly aggroes on silhouettes from above. The authors of NeonLightsMedia advise keeping tightly to the sand and the hull of the sunken Lander Garage. Caught the Leviathan’s trick? Dive inside the hull. Trying to escape in open water always ends with a death screen. Additionally, two Needler Mangos guard the perimeter. Without consumables, gathering becomes an endless escape. The Dot Esports editorial team confirms: a couple of Distraction Flares thrown aside grants 20-30 seconds of absolute peace. The pace of farming skyrockets.

How to distinguish Lead Ore from Titanium underwater
Both rock chunks generate in the same biome and share the same gray-purple texture gradient. As noted by Games, lead clusters are distinguished by their angular (almost rectangular) shape, while titanium is always smoother and rounder. To avoid mistakes, obsessively check the cursor tooltip. One blind hook to a false vein burns 5-7 minutes of time and a critical supply of O₂.
Setting up a navigation beacon via PDA
Constantly searching for the right crevice using a compass (75° through a dense current) is a dubious pleasure. Don’t skimp on basic logistics. Craft a beacon from copper and titanium. Drop it at the waypoint on your first visit, enable ping in your PDA, and the route is locked forever. It takes exactly half a minute.
