If you have reached the sandy shores of Riven Tides, then you are already aware: the location is small, but there are enough quest goals. One of them is to fix a leaking oil pipe. In parallel, the game will ask you to take pictures of cracks in the breakwater and take algae samples from the hotel. But the pipe is still a headache: it flows in an open area, and there are raiders and ARC drones roaming around. Without a proper approach, you can lose the first-aid kits and delay the task.
The good news is that tasks are not tied to order. You are free to do them in any sequence. All points of interest are stretched along the same coastline — you walk along the beach and close everything at once. The choice of route is most often dictated by the point of disembarkation: if you appear in the west, stomp east; spawn in the east immediately throws you closer to the pipes and breakwater. It makes sense.

How to find and repair an oil pipe in Riven Tides?
The required pipeline section is located in the northeastern part of Riven Tides. The map is tiny — you can get from anywhere in a couple of minutes. But it is in this area that ARC flying creatures patrol: “Hornets”, “Wasps” or “Fireflies”. Take a medium—range weapon for them – this way you will save time and ammunition.
Arriving at the place (the landmark is two huge oil pipes), you will see that one of them is leaking, filling the water with an oily film. The problem is that visually the leaking section is almost indistinguishable from the whole pipe — no obvious jets or puddles. Just look for an interactive hint and click interaction. Secret life hack: the rightmost whole pipe line (it is the line, not the joint) most often turns out to be the repair point. If you click, the goal is counted.
An important warning is that you are in an open area. While you’re messing with the pipe, any other raider can turn you into a sieve. Before starting the repair, make sure that no one is around. Because being treated under fire is a below—average pleasure.
Where can I photograph cracks in a concrete breakwater?
Was the pipe repaired? Fine. Now move slightly west along the beach, where you will find cracks in the concrete structure. There are several such places, but the one closest to the oil pipes is marked on the map. The breakwater looks like a long concrete “wall” extending into the sea, with massive supports along it. It is most convenient to take photos from the south side of these pillars.
At the specified point, cracks are visible right in the wall, next to some foundations. Sometimes they are adjacent to containers or other objects, so they are even easier to notice. Just interact with the hint and the game will score the task.
Collection of algae samples near the Panorama Azzurro Hotel
Now we’ll have to stomp to the other end of the beach, directly north of the Azzuro. The desired area is near the sun loungers, broken umbrellas and the Panorama Azzurro hotel area. That’s where those seaweed clumps lie. Don’t confuse them: they need to be analyzed, not just examined.
Approaching the place, you will see several spots with dead algae. Click interaction to start the analysis animation. As soon as it ends, the last goal of the “Battening Down” quest will close.
While running between the points, look around. Drone and raider patrols are not the only thing here. Useful resources are often found: ammunition or ARC materials. They’ll come in handy in the next outings, believe me.
Rewards for the Key to Room 107 quest and smoke grenades
When everything is done, evacuate to Speranza and talk to Apollo.
For completing the quest, you will receive a key card from room 107 at the Riven Tides Hotel and three smoke grenade traps. The first is useful for accessing new rooms, the second is to confuse enemies or cover an escape. It’s not the fattest loot, but it’s perfect for early runs.
