Blizzard has published a new set of World of Warcraft hotfixes for Midnight and the other current versions of the game. The newest entries are dated 25 August 2026.

The list increases Frost Death Knight damage, repairs an Unholy interaction and fixes several boss battles in a current activity. Some changes apply immediately, while others may require a realm restart.

Frost Death Knight receives direct damage increases

Blizzard increased all Frost Death Knight ability and melee damage by six percent. Obliterate received a larger separate increase of 15 percent. These values apply to the Frost specialisation. They do not mean that every Death Knight ability in every specialisation gained the same amount.

The change responds to performance at the start of the Curse of Ula’tek period, especially in the Venomous Abyss raid. Equipment, talents and encounter execution still affect the result for each player.

An Unholy bug no longer cancels its own benefit

Unholy Devotion was increasing attack speed while also reducing attack damage. The two effects could cancel the intended benefit. The hotfix removes the unwanted attack-damage reduction. It is a repair to an incorrect interaction rather than a general increase to every Unholy ability.

Players comparing logs should use attempts made after the fix. Older attempts may show the behaviour that Blizzard has now removed.

Three boss battle problems are corrected

Noxious Spitfall should no longer select players who are not on its threat list. Ral’kala’s invulnerability shield should no longer interfere with the creature’s timed disappearance. Pack Hunters and Pack Ambushers also stop creating Venom-Bloated Pythons. Each change affects a named battle mechanic rather than every creature in the activity.

The corrections should make those encounters follow their intended rules. Players still need to respond to the remaining attacks and movement patterns.

Updated Area Confirmed Change
Frost Death Knight All Damage Up 6 Percent; Obliterate Up 15 Percent
Unholy Death Knight Unholy Devotion No Longer Reduces Attack Damage
Boss Battles Three Named Battle Problems Fixed
Quests Chapter Skip And Reward Descriptions Corrected

Quest text and progression now match the intended rewards

Li Li Stormstout should no longer comment when a player leaves The War Within Recap. Soridormi can again offer the Legacy of the Amani chapter skip. Two weekly quests also stop suggesting that they award two Sparks of Tide. The previous message described the reward incorrectly.

That last item is a text correction. It does not remove a confirmed second Spark because the quests were not intended to grant two in the first place.

Players can check the official list after each realm restart

Hotfixes do not always require a new client download. Blizzard can apply many of them on the server, while some entries become active after scheduled restarts. If an old value remains visible, players should confirm that their region has completed the required restart. Add-ons and cached tooltips can also take time to show a new number.

The official 25 August list contains these changes. Blizzard can add later hotfixes to the same page with a new date.

Players can test the changes without rebuilding everything

The Frost Death Knight damage increase applies broadly, while the larger Obliterate change affects a specific attack. Players should compare several encounters before changing every talent or item. One short fight may exaggerate the effect of timing and critical hits. The boss battle fixes are different from class tuning. They repair behaviour that could block or distort the activity. A corrected battle should now follow its intended sequence, so a previous workaround may no longer be needed.

Hotfixes are applied on the server and can arrive without a full client download. Interface data or combat logs may still need a reload before they display the new values correctly. Blizzard’s dated hotfix list remains the best place to check later adjustments.
