The head of Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnik, decided to reassure fans who are worried about the potentially colossal scale of Grand Theft Auto VI. According to him, Rockstar Games is preparing a project that, for all its epicness, will remain friendly to the widest audience. The publisher does not see a problem in the “immensity” of the world — apparently, the entry threshold will be as low as possible.

GTA 6 is for family players and adults without experience

In a recent interview for The Game Business, Zelnik touched on the topic of lack of time among adult gamers. There is an opinion that people with families and busy work schedules may simply not be able to “master” a project of this caliber, but the head of Take-Two has a different opinion on this matter. He stressed that the company’s portfolio is balanced: it includes both NBA 2K and WWE 2K sports simulators for fast sessions, as well as monumental “adult” titles like GTA.

Zelnik’s key points about the accessibility of the game:

  • Experience in previous installments is not important — to enjoy GTA 6, you do not need to know the plot of Grand Theft Auto V or Grand Theft Auto IV by heart.
  • Age is not a hindrance. If a person got hooked on video games at the age of 17, then at 40 he will find time for a high-quality blockbuster.
  • Audience reach — the company intends to involve literally “every suitable player”, not limited to hardcore fans.

GTA 6 release date and available platforms for the game

The release of Grand Theft Auto 6 is perhaps the most anticipated event in the industry over the past ten years. The developers from Rockstar Games do not plan to postpone the deadline: the game is still scheduled for release on November 19th. At the start, the project will be exclusive to current—generation consoles – it will be possible to play on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Interestingly, Zelnik relies on the continuity of generations. In his opinion, gaming has long ceased to be entertainment “only for teenagers,” and the new part of the series should definitively prove this. For Take-Two, this is not just a release, but an attempt to set a new quality standard that will be interesting for both 20-year-old beginners and 40-year-old industry veterans. It looks like something really big is waiting for us in November, but at the same time understandable to everyone.
