GTA VI isn’t out yet — but fans are already exploring its world with a map in hand. Literally.

While Rockstar Games stays tight-lipped about the open world’s details, the community has taken matters into its own hands. Using official trailers and marketing screenshots, fans have built a fully functional interactive map of the state of Leonida. It’s live, constantly updated, and already covers hundreds of points of interest — from the presumed districts of Vice City to rural highways and airports.

What Is the GTA 6 Fan Map and Where to Find It

The project goes by the name State of Leonida and is available online, including at its own dedicated domain. It’s been months in the making: creators went through trailers frame by frame, cross-referenced in-game visuals with real Florida geography — the real-world basis for Leonida — and manually placed every marker.

Here’s what the map currently includes:

  • Estimated locations — districts, beaches, mountain ranges, swamps
  • Key landmarks — buildings, stores, airports, and highways with names pulled directly from trailers
  • Real-world comparisons — each point is tied to Miami or other Florida cities
  • Trailer-sourced evidence — screenshots and frames used to confirm each location

The map is updated regularly — recent versions already include the latest screenshots from Rockstar’s promotional campaigns.

How Accurate Is the GTA VI Fan Map — and Should You Trust It

Honest answer: partly. The creators themselves warn that the project is unofficial and that some markers are educated guesses that may not match the final game. Rockstar has made no comment on the map whatsoever.

What’s confirmed What’s still uncertain
Vice City as the main urban hub Exact county boundaries
Swamps, beaches, and mountain terrain Total map size (estimates: 125+ km²)
Several major roads and highway networks Number of enterable buildings
Approximate placement of airports Presence of additional offshore islands

Enthusiasts from the Vice City & Leonida State Mapping project have calculated that the GTA 6 world could be 2.16 times larger than Los Santos from GTA V, covering at least 125 square kilometers. The author himself admits a 10–15% margin of error — but even with that caveat, the scale is staggering.

Why the GTA 6 Interactive Map Actually Matters Right Now

At first glance, mapping a game that hasn’t come out yet might seem pointless. But the logic is straightforward: GTA VI is one of the most anticipated releases of the decade, and players want to hit the ground running. The interactive map already lets you:

  • Get a sense of the open world’s scale before any official reveal
  • Figure out which parts of Leonida the story might take you through
  • Build theories and dig into details alongside the community

This isn’t fan work for the sake of fan work. It’s essentially a crowdsourced decoding operation — a collective attempt to read between the lines of every piece of marketing Rockstar has put out, and piece together what the world of GTA VI actually looks like.

GTA VI launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series S|X — and the fan map will almost certainly keep updating with every new official drop between now and then. Once the game is out, the community will stack it against the real Leonida map and see just how close months of detective work got them. That comparison alone is going to be worth watching.
