Rumors that The Elder Scrolls VI will be released in 2028 under the name “Sentinel” have been making the rounds on gaming communities. YouTube blogger EpicNate, citing sources within Bethesda, revealed the date and subtitle. But trusting a single blogger would be rash—we compared his words with Jason Schreier’s prediction and hints from Bethesda itself. Here’s what we came up with.

EpicNate, a creator with 1.48 million subscribers, claims in a 40-minute video that the game will be called “The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel,” is scheduled for release in 2028, and will be set in Hammerfell, possibly with some High Rock thrown in. The blogger himself candidly acknowledges that the timeline is subject to change, and the plot has been revised several times over the years of development.

How seriously should we take this leak? EpicNate’s tracklist isn’t exactly a flashy insider tip—they’re not one to regularly confirm rumors. The real clue is that their data aligns with information from a much more reputable source. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier stated on a podcast that The Elder Scrolls VI won’t be released before 2028, while a realistic window is 2028 or even 2029. Schreier is a Tier A insider; his predictions usually come true. So 2028 isn’t a fantasy, but a consensus estimate. Bethesda is likely using that year as a benchmark, but without going overboard.

And what about the title? That, too, isn’t entirely based on the words of one blogger. In August, Xbox head Asha Sharma wrote on social media that she’d seen a “live playthrough” of TES 6 and obscured the title with eight asterisks—*******. Bethesda repeated this technique in its post. Fans immediately recalled that the word “SENTINEL” is encoded in the Starfield employee number (190514-2009140512 → the numbers correspond to the letters). Former Bethesda developer Michael Kirkbride answered “yes” when asked directly about the name. There are too many coincidences—it’s no longer possible to assume it was a coincidence.

So, we have three independent lines of thought: EpicNate’s rumor, Schreier’s prediction, and a string of hints from Bethesda and Xbox. They don’t contradict each other, but rather complement each other. EpicNate states a target, Schreier suggests a realistic timeframe allowing for possible delays, and the hints point specifically to Sentinel. Does this outweigh other theories (Redfall, Hammerfell)? So far, yes, based on the combined indirect evidence.

What should readers do next? There’s no official announcement—and likely won’t be until 2027. Keep an eye on Todd Howard’s talks and gaming expos—if Bethesda decides to reveal anything new, it won’t be until next year. In the meantime, we have new clues that build to a pretty solid picture: TES 6 will likely release in 2028, will be called Sentinel, and will be set in Hammerfell. But remember: there’s no official confirmation, and everything is subject to change in game development.

Three Sources of Information About TES 6

Source Claim Reliability Level Status
EpicNate (YouTube) Date 2028, title Sentinel, location Hammerfell Medium (no confirmed track record) Not officially confirmed
Jason Schreier (Bloomberg) Release no earlier than 2028, likely 2028–2029 High (reputable insider) Estimate, not a fact
Bethesda / Xbox Teasers 8 stars, code in Starfield, Kirkbride’s reaction Indirect but convincing Hints, not direct confirmation
