Asobo Studio has officially revealed the cast of voice actors and animations for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, scheduled for release on August 27, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Anna Demetriou, familiar to fans from Requiem, will once again play the lead role of Sofia. But the list of stars turned out to be much more extensive than expected.

The main cast includes:

  • Anna Demetriou – Sofia (voice + motion capture)
  • Lisa Delamar – Leni (voice + motion capture)
  • Benjamin Homewood – Faro (voice + motion capture)
  • Chipo Cheung – Irene (voice only)
  • Alex Martin – Irene (motion only)

Interestingly, Irene was played by two actresses, and the developers had compelling reasons for this choice. This approach allows for the perfect timbre and, separately, the right physicality, as combat scenes and emotional dialogue require different physical abilities. This meticulous method has already become standard in major AAA titles (think of God of War or The Last of Us Part II).

Gameplay Innovations: From Stealth to Dynamics

Resonance departs from the familiar stealth of previous games—Sophia now confidently wields a sword and dagger, parries, and uses a grappling hook. But the main draw is the light-based puzzles, inspired by the myth of the Minotaur. Players will switch between two timelines (the Middle Ages and Classical Antiquity), solving puzzles in labyrinths. References to ancient Greek culture serve as part of a fully-fledged mechanic that defines the plot and exploration.

Development lasted almost four years, the team has expanded to 80 people, and the budget clearly exceeds the studio’s standards. The game will also be available on Game Pass on launch day, and pre-orders are now open for $49.99 for PC and $59.99 for consoles.

Since its June announcement, the previous installments (Innocence and Requiem) have sold over 500,000 additional copies—the series is showing signs of life even as interest in single-player adventures wanes. In the lead-up to the release, we can only wait for more gameplay footage, but it’s already clear: this isn’t just a sequel, but a bold reboot of the formula.
