Metro 2039 has gained momentum faster than anyone could have imagined. In just 15 days since its full announcement, the number of wishlist additions has surpassed one million—a feat that takes many blockbusters months.

Yesterday, developers 4A Games and publisher Deep Silver shared the figure. Without false modesty: people are truly eagerly awaiting it. “We’re thrilled to have reached this milestone so quickly. Thank you so much for your support—we can’t wait to invite you back to Metro this winter.”

Should this excitement be attributed solely to the hunger of fans who have been starved for the fourth installment for seven years? Or was that 120GB data leak a factor, which sparked conversations even among those who had been lukewarm about the series? Most likely, it’s both. The Metro community, as it turns out, is still alive and kicking—it’s huge and very active.

Yes, Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced managed to reach the million wishlist milestone faster (in just a week), but Ubisoft is Ubisoft, and it has a historically broader audience. And here we have post-apocalyptic hardcore, a developer without the advertising budgets of major labels—and such numbers.

Less than two weeks ago, the game was officially unveiled. And it’s already generated such a buzz. The developers thank everyone who added the project to their wishlists and remind them: the release is in winter. The standard platforms are PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. We’re waiting.
