Amazon Australia appears to have accidentally revealed the release date for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. According to the product listing, the next installment of Asobo’s action-adventure game will hit players on August 27th of this year.

Officially, the developers are keeping mum, only vaguely mentioning “release in 2026.” But leaks from major retailers are almost always accurate. Especially when it comes to Amazon: the store’s internal database rarely gets dates wrong. This can hardly be called a coincidence.

Here’s what’s interesting: the next two weeks are a veritable parade of presentations: State of Play, Xbox Games Showcase, Summer Game Fest. Many fans are anticipating the announcement at these events. The fact that the date has surfaced right now, on the eve of these broadcasts, only fuels confidence—August 27th seems extremely realistic.

Plot details about Sofia and the Minotaur’s Island

By the way, plot details are already known. The main character is the bandit Sofia. She will travel to the mysterious Minotaur Island to unravel a tangle of past mysteries. There, ancient technologies, puzzles, myths, and, of course, the curse of Makula await her. Without it, a Plague Tale would be impossible.

Release Platforms and Russian Localization

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy will be released on PC, Xbox Series S|X, and PlayStation 5. On a positive note, the game will receive cinematic localization—that is, Russian subtitles. The developers have not abandoned this tradition.

Asobo hasn’t officially announced anything yet. But Amazon Australia has already spoken for them. We’re waiting until the end of August.

Lore Changes and the Nature of Makula’s Curse in Resonance

Forget everything you knew about the plague. In Innocence and Requiem, the curse in Hugo de Runes’ blood worked according to a very clear pattern: 14th-century France and endless waves of rats. Now Asobo is tearing down this familiar foundation. Game director David Dedein revealed a rather surprising fact: the Macula mutates along with the culture and fears of people. Rodents were just one of the options. Apparently, the Minoan civilization once encountered a completely different form of this disease.

Echoes Mechanics Overview and Dual-Protagonist Gameplay

The series takes a sharp turn toward dual narratives. Through the Echoes system, gameplay jumps between Sophia in 14th-century Greece and a nameless warrior from 1500 BC. These aren’t lazy story inserts (there’s plenty of that in the industry). The actions of the ancient hero physically reshape the arenas and alter the routes for Sophia in her present. The lives of the two protagonists are tightly stitched together by a 4,500-year-long thread of time. It is in the island’s labyrinths that the true source of the infection lies, which will reach the de Rune family much later.

The Origins of the Prima Macula Curse on Crete

The Latin name of the curse translates as “first stain.” Resonance finally takes this phrase literally. Last time, the developers tossed us sixth-century frescoes as the oldest clue, but this time the scope is different—we’re diving into Crete and the entire Aegean world of the Bronze Age.

A highly unusual tool will help us unravel this ancient legacy. It concerns the stolen sphere created by Daedalus to illuminate the island. Light changes everything. The Minoans understood the nature of the Macula perfectly well and desperately tried to preserve it. Now the rays work like keys to intricate puzzles, rather than simply pushing the tailed menace into corners.
