After years of anticipation and endless “when” requests, Riot Games has finally launched League Classic—the mode that takes us back to League of Legends from 2009–2012. The original Summoner’s Rift, original items, handcrafted runes and talents, and 60 champions in their original form—no reworks, no reworks, just pure nostalgia. To celebrate, the developers are giving away free icons featuring classic art of the oldest champions. The codes are valid for a limited time, so don’t delay.

How to redeem a League Classic icon code—step-by-step instructions

There are two activation methods: through the official Riot website and directly in the game client. Both work, so choose the one that’s most convenient.

League Classic code redeem

Through the website (fastest):

  1. Go to the activation page—shop.riotgames.com/en-us/redeem/.
  2. Log in to your Riot account. Important: select the code you want to redeem the icon for.
  3. Copy the code and paste it into the input field. Codes are case-sensitive, so it’s best to copy them rather than enter them manually.
  4. Press Enter – you’ll be taken to a confirmation screen.
  5. Click the “Redeem Code” button.

Via the League of Legends client:

  1. Launch the client and open the store (the “Shop” tab).
  2. In the upper right corner, find the “Account” button – it’s the profile icon with a gear.
  3. Select “Redeem Code” (or “Redeem Code”) from the drop-down menu.
  4. Enter the code and confirm activation.

Once activated, the icon will appear in your collection. The website states that delivery can take up to 24 hours, but in practice, most players receive their order instantly.

Current League Classic Icon Codes (August 2026)

Code Reward Status
CC-CLASS-WARWI-To123 Warwick Champion Icon (Classic) ✅ Active
CC-CLASS-MORGA-To123 Morgana Champion Icon (Classic) ❌ Soon
CC-CLASS-ANNIE-To123 Annie Champion Icon (Classic) ❌ Expired
CC-CLASS-ALIST-To123 Alistar Champion Icon (Classic) ❌ Expired

Currently, only the Warwick code is guaranteed to work. The Morgana code is not yet active, but it already exists and is expected to work in the coming days. Unfortunately, the Annie and Alistair codes have already expired—they were activated during the first wave of distribution and are no longer working.

What to do if the code doesn’t work or the icon didn’t arrive

This is an unpleasant situation, but it’s usually solvable. Here are the main reasons and solutions:

The code isn’t accepted:

  • Check the case. Codes are case-sensitive—if you entered cc-class-warwi-t0123 instead of CC-CLASS-WARWI-T0123, the system won’t recognize it.
  • The code has already expired. As with Annie and Alistair, if you see an error, the code is likely no longer valid.
  • You’re logged into the wrong account. Make sure you’re logged into the correct region and account for which you want to receive the icon.

The code was activated, but the icon isn’t there:

  • Wait up to 24 hours. The activation website warns that delivery may take up to 24 hours. In most cases, the icon arrives immediately, but delays can occur.
  • Restart the client. Sometimes the collection doesn’t update immediately—restarting the game resolves the issue in 90% of cases.
  • Check your collection. The icon won’t arrive as a separate notification—it simply appears in your icon collection.

If all else fails, your only option is to contact Riot Games support. However, judging by the experiences of other players, in 99% of cases the issue is resolved by double-checking your input or waiting.

Where to find the icon in the client and how to equip it

After successful activation, the icon automatically appears in your collection. To equip it:

  1. Open the League of Legends client.
  2. Click your profile icon in the upper-right corner.
  3. Select “Collection” from the drop-down menu.
  4. Go to the “Icons” tab.
  5. Find the new icon—it will be labeled “Classic” or have the corresponding art.
  6. Click on it and click “Select” (or “Equip”).

An important detail: unlike some other cosmetic items that are tied exclusively to League Classic, profile icons are visible throughout the client and in any game mode. This means you can show off Warwick’s classic icon even in regular modern League matches—and it works.

Code Scheme and How to Stay on Top of New Giveaways

Riot seems to have established a clear system. All League Classic icon codes follow the same template:

CC-CLASS-XXXXX-T0123

Where XXXXX is the first five letters of the champion’s name in English.

  • Warwick → WARWI
  • Morgana → MORGA
  • Annie → ANNIE
  • Alistair → ALIST

Knowing this scheme, you can roughly predict future codes. For example, for Soraka it would be SORAK, for Janna it would be JANNA. Riot hasn’t yet confirmed which champion will receive an icon next, but judging by the pattern, we can expect new codes in the coming weeks.

Where to keep an eye on new codes:

  • Official League of Legends social media channels – X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram.
  • Game portals and forums – codes appear there almost immediately after the announcement.
  • Check the redemption page regularly – sometimes codes become active without a separate announcement.

And most importantly – don’t delay. Codes for Annie and Alistair have already expired, and the current ones won’t last forever either. As soon as a new code appears, redeem it immediately.

What other cosmetics can you get in League Classic?

Icons are a nice bonus, but they’re far from the only thing Riot has prepared for nostalgic players.

League Classic cosmetics rewards

Skins. All champions in League Classic have a default Classic base skin—the one with the original model from earlier seasons. It can’t be used in regular matches, but it’s the only available option for the mode. One exception is Baron Rammus, a variation of the legendary King Rammus, one of the rarest skins in League history. It can be used in both Classic and regular modes.

Portraits. These are a new type of cosmetic, unique to League Classic. They appear only on the loading screen for Classic matches and feature fun designs of popular champions. Some portraits can be obtained for free through the Classic Pass—play League Classic, earn coins, and unlock rewards.

Other Icons. In addition to promo codes, some Classic icons can be earned through the Classic Pass, along with rune pages, the ability to vote on future mode changes, and other bonuses.

League Classic has just launched, and Riot clearly has many more surprises in store. Keep an eye out for new codes, claim your icons while they’re free, and enjoy the 2012 League just as you remember it.
