Here it is, the news you’ve been waiting for. Brocap Studios has finally released the Hubert launch trailer, and it reveals the PS5 release date. It’s already in October. There’s no specific date, but it’s confirmed.

You’ll play as a shepherd named Hubert. Not a human, not a robot, but a dog who herds sheep, sniffs out tracks, and protects the flock from wolves. It sounds like a farming simulator, but in reality, it’s a touching story about the friendship and bond between a dog and its human. Hubert is joined by a girl named Lily, who persuaded the farmer to hire them. And this isn’t just a “run around the field” experience; it’s a full-fledged story-driven adventure with a soul.

Developers: Brocap Studio, a team from Brno. Three people who previously worked on Mafia: The Old Country and Last Train Home. The game’s budget is modest—just over three million crowns (approximately $143,000), yet Hubert has already amassed over 30,000 wishlists on Steam and won the Best Game award at Game Access 2026. Not bad for an indie project, huh?

The gameplay, by the way, is unconventional. Instead of a minimap and visual markers, you navigate by smell. Tracks, weather, instincts. The sheep in the game have the attention span of a goldfish, so you’ll have to run around. Wolves are a real threat. The player will see the action through the eyes of the hero, but in a literal sense: you see the world through the eyes of a dog. An original approach.

The demo is already on Steam, with a “very positive” rating, 158 reviews, and 89%—people are playing. If your console is gathering dust and you’re craving something warm and casual, Hubert is definitely worth checking out. The price hasn’t been announced yet, but based on the extensive work on the game, it’ll be around $20-30, similar to most indie hits.

Speaking of comparisons, many have already dubbed Hubert the dog lovers’ answer to Stray. And it makes sense: both games offer an inhuman perspective, but while in Stray you’re a cat in a post-apocalyptic world, here you’re a shepherd dog in a near-real world. The difference is colossal. If you’re a fan of atmospheric adventures, this game is definitely for you.

Stay tuned: as soon as Brocap announces a precise date, we’ll let you know. So, add Hubert to your wishlist and wait for October.
