Forza Horizon 6 attracts Japanese artists: nine authors rethink racing through manga, cyberpunk and ancient myths

Playground Games doesn’t just bring the action to Japan — the studio relies on visual style and a unique atmosphere. To do this, the developers enlisted the help of local artists who create original works specifically for the game.

In total, nine authors participate in the collaboration. Their projects will be shown as part of the “Art of Driving” series of videos — there will be three episodes. The trailer has already been released, and the three artists have been declassified. These are Satoshi Fujita (aka Dragon76), Kazuhisa Uragami and Inko Ai Takida.

Fujita, by the way, painted a mural in the spirit of the Nabuta festival — with giant illuminated structures made of washi paper and wire. They usually depict the heroes of Japanese mythology. The artist took Susanoo no Mikoto as a basis, added a dragon and a touch of cyberpunk. It turned out spectacularly.

Uragami chose a different theme — “noble outcast.” There are myths, the sea, and mechanics. The author himself explained: instead of the classic pirate, he made a hero with a personal code, added gears and metal — this reflected the industrial character of Kyushu.

Well, Takida followed the path of manga. She created nine characters for billboards in Shibuya. Among them are Mr. Hot Bun Man, Jun, and Sakura Fukatsu in an Edo—era kimono. It looks like an illustration for a comic book.

The rest of the work will be shown later — the collaboration does not end there. Forza Horizon 6 is scheduled for release on May 19th. The game will be released on Xbox Series and PC. And the first previews are already on April 8th.
