Rumors about the legendary remake being delayed to 2027 can be safely forgotten. Nintendo has officially confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake will be released this year – a corresponding entry appeared in the company’s latest financial report for the first quarter of 2026 (the document is dated August 6). There’s no specific date yet, but the game is listed among the releases planned for 2026 – and that’s the important thing. The financial report also revealed the dates of other projects: Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave launches on September 17, and Switch Sports Resort on October 22. Nintendo’s profit for the quarter grew by 53.5%, and Switch 2 sales reached 3.82 million units – the company clearly shows no signs of slowing down.
So why were fans so nervous? It’s simple – Nintendo still hasn’t even announced an approximate release window, and silence is usually a bad sign. But the investor report states clearly: “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is also scheduled for release this year.” Companies don’t tell investors things like that without proof, which means a delay is truly not planned. Incidentally, the same document states that Ocarina of Time is currently the only title on the 2026 list without a specific date, but its absence doesn’t equate to a delay.

There’s a clear pattern here: Nintendo often synchronizes game releases with the release of their accompanying amiibo, even if the themes don’t match. There have already been three such instances in 2026: Mineru’s Construct released alongside Fire Emblem, Meta Knight alongside Pokopia, and Dedede alongside Rhythm Heaven Groove. A leak from Nintendo UK pointed to November 11th as the release date for the new Ocarina of Time amiibo series—and if that holds true, the remake’s release date will be November 11th or 12th (depending on the time zone). True, November is also the release month of GTA 6, but the platforms diverge here: GTA 6 is coming to PS5 and Xbox, while the Zelda remake is a Switch 2 exclusive, so there won’t be any direct competition.
Another indicator of an imminent release is the ESRB rating. The game received an E10+ rating back on July 29th, and this is an important tribute to detail: unlike the 3DS version, the “Suggestive Themes” label has disappeared in the remake—apparently the developers have revisited the content.
