Unlike other hunts, this one revolves around a real family drama. Upton Travers is the head of the local Assassin bureau on Nassau. His brother, Vance, is a traitor who sold himself to the Templars for a treasure map. It is Vance who recruits Jing Lan, nicknamed the “Pirate Queen.”
Their conflict revolves around a map torn in two. Vance has already given his half to Jing Lan, but he needs the other half—the one in Upton’s possession. The entire hunt is the story of one brother trying to kill the other for profit, and Edward finds himself at the center of this complex family feud.

Mission 1 Walkthrough – “Oh, Brother…” (Find Upton’s Hideout)
It all starts in Nassau. Vance asks you to find his brother’s hideout. The clue is simple: Upton’s men are gathering at the nearby market.

You learn that an assassination attempt is being prepared against Upton. Return to the hideout immediately and protect it from the attackers.
Mission 3 Walkthrough – “Upton’s Sorrow” (Drunken Brother)
Upton has clearly had too much to drink. He starts a drunken brawl in the tavern – your task is to fend him off from the enraged patrons. The fight is short but fast-paced.
Next, the escort begins. Along the way, the drunken brother is accosted by dancers. To make them leave, you’ll need to pay 100 reals – don’t be greedy.
The next problem: Upton decides to relieve himself right on the street. This attracts the guards – eliminate them and continue on. At the end, there’s a short dialogue with Upton.
Mission 4 Walkthrough – “Pirate Queen, King of Fools” (Final)
A sober Upton gives you one last task: kill Vance and retrieve the Templar’s key. Vance is hiding in the swamps of Nassau.
The most effective tactic: move along tree branches. This way, you’ll reach Vance unnoticed, bypassing most of the guards. A rope dart from a tree is a good option: it will instantly disable the target.
After Vance’s death, Jing Lan appears. The chase through the swamp is short—catch her.
How to effectively kill Jing Lan—tips for the final battle
Jing Lan is no ordinary enemy. Here’s what you need to know:

She’s invulnerable until she engages. Don’t waste ammo at this point—she won’t take damage until she turns to fight.

She summons two guards. This isn’t random—she’s deliberately reinforced by regular fighters.

One successful parry decides everything. Once you intercept one enemy’s attack, you can perform a series of finishing moves on all three enemies simultaneously.

Don’t drag it out. The longer the fight goes on, the higher the chance that additional guards will arrive.

Additional loot: To the left of where the fight begins is another chest containing loot.
After killing Jing Lan, return to Upton to complete the quest. You will receive the third Templar Key.
Challenging Moments and Common Errors
Error 1: You didn’t complete “This Old Cove.”
Without this mission, the hunt won’t activate. If Vance doesn’t appear, check if you’ve completed Sequence 4.
Error 2: You’re stuck in the “Exploration” zone after killing Upton’s men.
After killing them, the zone shrinks but doesn’t disappear completely. Head west to the new marker—you’ll find the hideout.
Error 3: You didn’t find Jing Lan’s letter.
It’s on a wooden crate on the right side of the house. Don’t miss it—the next part won’t activate without it.
Error 4: You tried to reach Vance by land.
The swamp is swarming with guards. Use tree branches—it’s the fastest and safest route.
Critical Bug: How to Avoid Losing Hours of Progress
Warning: A serious bug related to Templar hunts has been discovered in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. What’s the issue: If you start a hunt in one region (for example, Kingston), don’t complete it, and then move on to another region or the main storyline, the game may reset your progress to the point where you started the hunt. Journalist Stephen Totilo lost about five hours of progress due to this bug.
